Very hard in Canada to find good cotton or linen at thrift shops. Not sure why really. Good tutorial! Running stitches have a good hand feel. Love the texture too.
I find it hard to find cotton t shirts or cotton underwear, I’m in Canada to..wish I knew why to. All the tops I find are either made with weird fabric now. I did hear cotton is very expensive for manufactures to buy now, not sure this is true or not.
Goodness, that is strange, we have a lot of synthetic garments here in the UK - the trend seems to be ‘recycled from plastic’ at the moment. But we have a lot of charity shops on the high streets where you can find vintage linens and cotton. What is eBay like in Canada?
Think about going to a fabric shop and buy a yard of oxford cloth, or go to a resale / thrift shop and buy a men's oxford cloth button down shirt. It's excellent to do hand embroidery on!
I have been looking into doing something with slow stitch for the cover for my quilting journal. Before I was a quilter I did cross stitch for over 20 years. So I have loads of DMC and beads to play with for the slow stitch.
well done. The only thing that surprised me was that you only stitched through one piece of cloth. If I stitch with two layers the stitches look much better. Thank you
Thank you so much for showing the spiral stitch going from the outside to the center. It looks so much easier than starting in the center.
Thanks so much Anne - I found I was able to keep the circle shape this was - thanks for watching ❤️
Thank you for inspiring me to try. You make it look so fun and easy.
Thanks so much Suzanne, I’m glad you found it useful ❤️

Hi Lisa, thanks for your comments 🌸 - is it possible to look on eBay for vintage linens?

Hi Kelley, I too was a cross stitcher for years and that’s where I amassed my stash of DMC - good luck with your journal cover 🌸
Its amazing what you can do with just one stitch, thank you
Thank you Pam 🌸
The rays look more like light with a thinner thread to me. I love all the different colors, I'll have to try that! Thanks.
Thank you - I like using different thickness of threads to create a variety of effects 🌸
Easy project desr one. You explained beautifully.
Will definitely try soon..

What size needle for beading?
Hi Lori, most of my beads fit through a milliner’s needle, but you can specifically buy beading needles which are really fine 🌸
Do you ever use a thimble? I try, & try, but can never find one that feels comfortable on my hand!
Hi Grace, no I don’t use a thimble, over the years I’ve tried different kinds, but like you, they don’t feel quite right - I’ve now given up on them 😊
