Here in Arizona we do our outside work early in the morning in the Summer time and stay indoors during the afternoon and evening So stitching by hand is a neat way to spend time.
I'm a newbie to embroidery, but not to textiles and not to needlework. I do needle woven beading and my major in college was textiles. I'm planning to make my first embroidery project a slow stitch piece. Needless to say, having been scouring TH-cam and Pinterest for inspiration, I've seen quite an amazing array of examples. But I have to say that yours is by far my favorite I've seen to date. I'll be visiting your IG and blog ASAP for a closer look. I'm so excited to get started now that I've found you and Anne Brookes (that's for crediting her so I could discover her). You both are so talented and have my creative wheels spinning like crazy. Thanks so much for sharing this gorgeous slow stitch piece.
l just started mine! I love lace ,soft print fabrics, buttons and embroidery, now l have something to do with my treasures. thank you for the inspiration : )
I'm looking at this in 2024 and admiring your beautiful work. I am starting one for my granddaughters so I'm excited about starting the slow stitching. Thanks. Oh, and I'm watching from Arizona in the USA
I have a few small tin containers I was about to toss in the trash … but then your pin cushion came in to screen view - no longer tossing those tins! Great idea for a pin cushion. Would love to see the contents of your sewing box/boxes. Your work is lovely and I sincerely thoroughly enjoy your channel. Thank you - a new subscriber.
Not something just to look at. If you have someone in your life with dementia this sort of thing is wonderful as a “busybox” item. Having something with interesting textures and colors to pet and examine can do wonders for helping with emotional regulation.
A person could do it in book form for their lived one with dementia. Flipping thru pages for them might be a nice activity. Possibilities on that would be endless...even printed picture of family on fabric.
Rachel, this is so lovely. Way back when you started yours, I was inspired -- by you -- to start one, but I cheated a great deal -- I sewed the pieces together with my sewing machine -- I'd forgotten how to embroider, except for french knots, which are my favorites -- so I sewed and sewed, and then ripped them out -- ha -- but it was great fun -- but wow, yours is stunning. Thank you for sharing. I am so impressed by your embroidered signature -- my sewing machine embroiders, and that might be the closest I'll ever come, but I might give it a whiz -- again, just lovely !!!
Oh my god, how beautiful, enchanting, creative and expressive is this piece of craftsmanship. I like it so much, I'm going to try it too. Thank you so much for showing and sharing. A real, personal and unique work of art!
I absolutely adore this...it is the “Slow Stitch Snippet Roll”of my dreams...Recently, I purchased wood spools on etsy and have placed one of my snippet rolls on it to display... then I purchased a few more...now I intend to sell my snippet rolls with or without the spools as an option... this is just gorgeous...❤️❤️❤️
@@ginainfantino411 hi! The snippet rolls can be cut up to use as trim for journal covers or pages. I just love to have them on the spools as a decorations.
This is breathtakingly beautiful Rachel. You have given me so many wonderful ideas. I would have to put a dowel through the hole so I could hang it and see all of its gorgeousness all the time. But then again unrolling it to look at will be a surprise every time. Have a nice day.
This is new for me. Kind of mini quilting "fix"! Very pretty..especially with laces n doily pieces. I don't know if I'd have the patience now with all the gluing I've been doing with journaling. But nothing beats fabric and fat quarter bundles can be so pretty! Well... winter's approaching...❄️🌨️🥶
Beautiful!!! Your work is gorgeous. Thank you for showing how you finished that was a big question for me. Thus has been a wonderful journey with you. Thank you again for sharing
Oh Rachel, this is truly a work of art! When you started the video I thought, gorgeous but what would I do with one if I made it...then, as if you heard me, you brought out the spool! Brilliant! I absolutely love it and want to make one. I can only hope it will turn out as lovely as yours. Thank you so much for this video series. Hugs and blessings, 🤗❤️🇨🇦
Absolutely beautiful, I committed to making one when you started yours. Now I am addicted, starting on my third, hopefully I will make one I consider good enough. Thanks for the inspiration, I love all of your videos.
I am not sure why, but this kind of stitching reminds me of Alabama Chanin. I love it. So many crafts, so little time....when I was in high school, in the 70’s, I embroidered a jean skirt I made while I watched basketball games. I still have it. Just couldn’t get rid of all that work.
Absolutely love your snippet roll. Your fabric and laces are beautiful. Hopefully soon I can go to some estate sales in search of fabric and lace. You are so inspiring. Thank you for sharing❤️
This is such a gorgeous accomplishment! Thank you for sharing your journey with this beautiful project. I have learned so much and I truly appreciate the inspiration to return to slow stitching and embroidery.
This is incredible! I’m very inspired to do something similar I got wooden spool and I’m collecting bits and pieces of vintage fabric. Thank you for sharing this ❤️❤️❤️😍😍😍👍
Rachel this is definitely not a flop. It is beautiful! It is perfect for sure. I have all my fabric down and started to stitch, but I stopped and practice some of the stitches. Thanks for sharing such a fun project.😍🌴
That is such a beautiful idea and of course a beautiful finished piece. This is the first one I’ve watched of this, but am now going to watch the other videos that go with it. Thankyou for sharing Rachel, stay safe xx
Thank you for the beautiful class and the fabric you are creating ! Such an inspiration ! Wishing you and all visitors of this amazing chanal A very 😊 Happy Healthy and Creative 2022 !
Rachel, I love it, I have made a couple in off white & lace, I have some vintage buttons, my mother, in-law gave me That belonged to her mom, since my guest bedroom has furniture & bedcover from her it will hang in the guest room We just did a makeover, I can't wait for her to see it. You know slow stitching is supposed to be relaxing & done when you feel like it,
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️YOU were MY inspiration for doing the one I did and I love yours and love mine. Mine hangs on the wall in our kitchen where I can see it every time I sit down to eat. 😁
It's really beautiful Rachel! Lovely and inspiring to look at hanging in your craft room! It has been wonderful following your snippet roll journey! 😊❤💞
This is so very pretty. It definitely reflects your skill and design talents. It is quite obvious how much you enjoy slow stitching. I would think something to consider when making one of these would be to pay special attention to using your favorite fabrics and such at the end of the roll since that is the part that will be seen the most.
TFS, that looks fantastic. I’m trying to do one and it’s quite wide so lots needed. Its really showing my inability to just let it develop rather than having to completely compose the whole thing first. Love the button the at the end.
I definitely think a wider one would be more challenging. Did you try starting with some larger fabric and then layering over some smaller ones? That might help. I bet it's wonderful! Thank you so much!
You showed great restraint with your #sew4thesoul snippet roll...mine is over six feet long. I couldn’t stop myself. Then my husband tied fishing line around the spool for me (at Anne’s suggestion) and it’s hanging on the wall in a prominent position. 😁 Really beautiful Rachel!

Great idea! A book of family photos!
Dementia can be healed with ketogenic diet or carnivore diet. Please check it out on youtube. There are a lot of interviews of professionals about it!
Thanks, I appreciate you. Was wondering what it was for. 😊❤

Really lovely piece. How about Velcro to attach to reel, stuck onto the reel and sewn onto roll. Then you can swap over if you are displaying.
Thanks so much 😊
Love it. Have slowly been gathering pieces and scraps with the idea of a slow stitch piece in mind.
Thank you so much!
