The absolute BEST in car video ever created! The only thing I would have changes is, I would put the helmet cam on the roll bar. Less bouncing around. Great sound too! Thanks!
Fantastic video..!! Love all the different cameras on this 908..! Laguna Seca is such a fun and technical track.. You folks must be friends of Bruce Canepa? How about the 2018 Reunion videos??
This sounds cool but what you are hearing is a distortion. The microphone is clipping wich gives it a more aggressive sound. If you look up other clips of this car you will hear that although it still sounds awesome it is very different from what you hear in this video.
Yeah, of course not the same really but it's got a firing order which isn't massively dissimilar, I think it's something like 1-7-2-8-5-3-6-4 in the final iteration. 8 cylinder boxer!
Yep, looks about right. Note that each bank is uneven firing, like a cross plane V8. The exhausts are grouped like two boxer fours in a row, roughly equal length. The resulting sound is not unlike 180 headers on, say, a GT40, albeit higher revving. It also has a bit of that boxer buzz off-throttle, which makes it unique.

Funny how a race car driver leans his head into the turn looking at everything with an angled view. Where as motorcycle riders, we hold our heads level regardless of what the bike does, so we can judge the turn better, and keep our eyes on the apex.
@@poljot1285 You actually connect your front tire with the apex of a turn? Why dont you just focus on looking where you want to go, and have your reflexes and mustle memory take you there? What if there is a hood or bonnet if you are Brittish in the way of you seeing your front tire?
@@poljot1285 Or worse yet. LOL... what if you sit off center in the vehicle off to the left side or the right if you are Brittish? Would'nt that throw you off in a turn if you line up your front tire with the apex? Or am I missing something here?
because they're designed for different classes and regulations. The Porsche 908 was raced in the 1970-71 seasons. @@375GTB no I'm talking about the 908/3. The regulations were changed in 1972 and a limit for weight was set and the weight of the Porsche 908/3 was its only advantage against Ferrari, Alfa, and Matra. While the Ferrari 312pb was designed specifically for the 1972 season. And the Porsche was too underpowered having only a 3 liter flat 8 while the Ferrari 312pb had a 3 liter flat 12. So Porsche sold their 908/3 to private customers who raced them later on fitted with the turbo 2.1-liter engines and fitted with extra weight as the required by the rules.
Well its Laguna sega raceway And that part where the car decends while turning, yeah people call that the corkscrew. It will screw you over bad if go through that turn fast enough

Wow love this video!, thanks for sharing.
Compare the sound of this car with the lifeless sound of modern race cars.

Amazing how it sounds a lot like a high - winding V-8... Not what you'd expect out of a flat 8. Must have something to do with firing order?

The number 25 Chevron B19 Spyder infront of the Porsche was originally owned by Doug Shierson, who would go onto own the Domino's Indycar.
The Gulf livery just makes you feel kinda sorry for the other paint jobs.

Geeez, shit editing in the middle of the turn. You lose perspective on the apex, let alone continuity of the racing line.
