This upset me so much. I'm getting on here when I am on my sick bed and shouldn't be texting but as a person who was left permanently disabled by someone who was driving carelessly this hit hard. It's part of why I'm in bed and been in bed for over a year. To see him live streaming and texting and then getting in an accident and being lucky enough to survive all he asks his best friend. Is you good bro? He should have had his friend sitting down until until EMS arrived and he was evaluated. He could have a head injury but film that.
Surely he had insurance on this car... But all he cared about was that car. And filming everything. I saw the whole video previously and I am just disgusted. With such reckless endangerment, I would hope that he would at least spend some time behind bars. I know it wouldn't be for long even if it did happen, but this guy deserves some consequences and I mean something more than being kicked off Kik.

It almost happened to me years ago as well when a girl decided to text and drive during rush hour, and caused a multi car collision. the car behind me literally got shoved under my car and became a pancake. driver behind me leaned back in time so he wasn't completely crushed.
lucky for the girl, none of our (the victims) injuries were life altering. bonus she just bought her car, graduated college with a butt load of loans, and bought a new house with her fiance. she broke down not because of the injuries she caused but because of the debt she then owed.

His insurance company and the police have got him over a barrel. They both have more than enough evidence to prosecute him. Dangerous driving, using a phone at the wheel, causing injuries to his passenger, AND subsequently asking him take video while bleeding, and that was after leaving him in the vehicle in the aftermath of the crash...!

@@starguardianariel I mean the main problem here is the tyres. There is nothing wrong with an RWD if you have the proper tires for weather like this. I don't know about the US but inmany countries in Europe you HAVE to change to winter tires and not because of the possible snow. The patterns on the tires are different and much deeper, and they are able to handle a lot more water on the road than summer tires. The compound is also different so they don't go rigid in cold weather.
That car had a lot of torque and he should've shifted up to reduce it and should've been much easier on the pedal but the kid is clearly a moron and doesn't know how to drive. Locking up the brakes like he did is the worst thing you can do when sliding.

"Reckless endangerment (to the lives of others)" should be added on to any any serious driving offense; drink driving, speeding more than 10% over the limit, or being on the phone.
And that should carry an automatic 6 month minimum in prison, 2 year driving ban when you're out and having to attend road safety course and take a fixed number of lessons like a damn rookie when you do start to reapply to take both your theory and practical tests again.

Retired EMT here. This reaction (more concern for the cars than the humans involved in an accident) is sadly not uncommon among younger drivers who haven't yet reached the realization they are mortal. Once I responded to a solo vehicle accident on a very rainy night. The female driver came to consciousness as we were loading her into the back of the boo-boo bus, and starting screaming hysterically, "My baby! My baby!" Firefighters, cops, and EMS personnel were on our hands and knees, searching through the thick vegetation and mud next to the freeway, looking desperately for a missing baby. The woman eventually calmed down enough during transport to the medical center to tell the medic treating her that her car was the "baby" she was referring to. Needless to say, she was NOT the most popular patient we treated during that shift!
If he has enough money to buy that car, my guess he can buy another. Rich idiots who didn’t build their wealth through hard work, squander that wealth just as easily as they got it. That’s why most lottery winners are broke in less then 5 years later.
