    Is this the same motor in the earlier Regal? Because I'm in the market for a nice sporty sedan and I love the looks of the 2012-2017 GS. If I end up with one I would probably only get a tune, intake, and downpipe but I'm unfamiliar with the engine and chassis platform. Too bad they discontinued the 6 speed so quickly and it was never available with AWD. Anyway thank you, awesome video by the way.

      This is the same engine but unfortunately it is a different transmission, this car being the wagon had an 8 speed aisin transmission and awd, it seems to handle power well but I’ve heard mixed things about the transmission in the normal sedan

    Great to see some actual numbers for the Trifecta tune. Any chance you could repeat the comparison but with a simple brake to gas pedal and floor it, which is probably more representative of how most of us drive on a daily basis?
    Any other mods planned like a downpipe or Intercooler?
    Thanks again for the video. 👍

      Absolutely I can do that, and we currently have the downpipe, flex fuel , and intake for it, hopefully going to get a tube soon, just waiting for hp tunes to unlock the tcm

      @@jacob8038 So HP tuner has a TCM map for the Aisin Warner 8 speed as I am only aware of EDS in Germany who offer a full TCU tune?
      In Europe, the Insignia 2.0T 4x4 260 is torque limited in gears 1, 3, 4, 7 and 8 and power limited to 230 BHP in gears 1 - 6 with a soft limiter from 140 mph.
      I have read of one German owner with stage 1 ECU tune, TCU tune and zero bolt on mods having registered over 160 mph confirmed by GPS and still accelerating. According to those who live on the Autobahn, a factory ECU tune with unlocked TCU makes 150+ mph much more easily attained.

    • @jacob8038
      @jacob8038  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Stef L we haven’t had a chance to confirm completely yet, zzp says hp tuners can unlock it and trifecta says they don’t support it, I should have an answer for you within a month though

    How were you able to launch at ~4000 rpm? My car (stock 2018 TourX) only brake torques up to about 1950 rpm and 35% throttle when floored. And the take off is then sloooow. Quicker to do a light brake stand to about 1500-1600 rpm. Even at that I'm maybe 7.0-7.2 sec 0-60. Did the tune give the ability to launch from higher rpm?
    Also, nice gauge setup.

    • @jacob8038
      @jacob8038  3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      The truck is to shut off stability and traction control, push the brake no more then half way, and slowly apply throttle, it will let you build rpm and boost for about 8 seconds

      And it works! My technique is still crap, but I did 2 runs my old way (tc on, 1900-ish rpm, mat it) and got a 7.2 and 7.6 sec 0-60. Boost was, well, vacuum, like the throttle was juat cracked open. TC off and pour throttle open till about 3000 rpm got me off the line at about 6 psi of boost and netted a 7.0 and 6.7 sec 0-60. So matched, then beat, the best time I had before. Now back to driving like an old man. And getting my order in to Trifecta.....

      I would think it would be close, the only downside to the trifecta tune on the 2.0 is that it makes stock boost until third gear, and thanks, it’s around there, it’s a five mile dead end road between cornfields

    Will the trifecta tune fuck up the transmission?? I read a comment on another video asking if this will mess up the clutch because gm says it’s rated at 295lb
    Edit: I have a 2015 regal 2.0t and I want to make it more fun to drive, any suggestions as to what I could add on with the tune??

    • @jacob8038
      @jacob8038  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I can’t speak long term just yet, but in my opinion at this power level I feel you have nothing to worry about, the transmission in the tourx is rated to hold a decent amount of torque, as four the regular regal, i have heard bad things from tuners concerning the fwd transaxle’s ability to hold power

      The Aisin Warner 8 speed is factory rated at 355 lbft and many tuners exceed this as the transmission is also used in all Volvo's and many other manufacturers including some BMW's like the X2 M35i.
      I should add that the 9 speed in the FWD Regal is a GM transmission and has a significantly lower max torque rating of circa 256 lbft.
