I've got this filter on the back of my 90l cube. It's great, but gets air inside easily IMO. Also you have to make sure you have easy access to it. Mines right at the back almost up against the wall and it's a bloody pain to get to it putting it on and off is so awkward for me
Both good points it’ll be a heavy unit to remove if you haven’t got good access to the back of the tank fully And the email thing I’ll watch out for Thanks for the heads up 👍👍
Awesome review Mal! I've just done my unboxing and setting up video on this same model mate. I must admit I'm very happy with how it's working so far. I didn't use any of the media provided as that could be the issue people are finding that causes issues down the line. Fancy putting it into the tank and filling it up lol. I guess we all make mistakes lol 😊 thanks for sharing mate 😊
@@aquariumdelirium oh really that's very unfortunate mate. Tbh for the money you can't go wrong, the amount of filter floss was mind-blowing, I replaced it all lol. I've gone for bio media in the top and bottom and 2 fine sponges then 2 coarse. Fingers crossed it holds up mate. Hahahhaha yeah I did notice lol 😂
I can see where it’s faults are the fact of one clip being against the glass meaning you’d have to remove the full thing to clean is a big downside But I’m only really wanting it as a temporary solution until I move up a tank size for them
@@aquariumdelirium yeah I’d say you gotta be carful as the water output slows not long after the first week, even if your doing maintenance it’s not enough to keep it up imo
Sorry for the delay Oh I like it!! Really good review I will have to see if they are available here. I have heard they are big poopers like shubunkin goldfish
I want one for the compact look but went for an HOB with the built-in skimmer. I know I can just position the outlet to the surface but I really want the before-filtration skimming.
It’s really quiet Gil and requires 4 1/2” for space it probably weight about 4 kilo And also if you haven’t got great access you would struggle to remove the canister clips to maintain it 👍👍
I had looked at this a few times. To be honest the cheap price put me off, thought it would be built cheap and not great but can see from your video that's not the case. Great review mate.
It’s definitely got its flaws Daniel, no doubt, but a few improvements and these low wattage solutions may be the way to go The outside housing is well made but the trays are a bit 3d printed badly feel to them Cheers for watching buddy 👍👍
Got a few of these, shame they aren't bigger (1500-2000 lph) priming is a total ball ache with these, i turn the filter off to do my water changes, then plug it back in once its topped up, only way to stop the air getting in, but once working there great an worth the money
I’m wishing the clips to release the canister were on the slim side as you can’t get to them when it up against the glass Busy cutting sponges now for it 👍👍 thanks for watching James and commenting
After a few weeks I see the problems You have to fully remove from tank to clean, you can’t just unclip it. It’s flow has cut in half now even when it’s cleaned And the outport connection weeped Noise is minimal to be fair
@@aquariumdeliriumI have a lot of different levels of enjoyment in this hobby and the only thing that has been consistent from starting in 2000 has always been my love of running filters . I have gotta say that the other side of not using power filters are not necessarily the smartest lot 😮 lol
@stoneysscapes7544 I just find these sponge filters are no we’re near as good and you see Leaving a lot of extra work Mind if you notice that square sponge and pipe in the corner of the brown tank clear up shot ( future video) I’m very impressed and that’s probably the way I’m going on the main filtration Thanks for watching 👍👍👍

Great review Mal. That cleaned it really fast, even with minimal media. Not a bad filter at 6 watts either. ❤
I’ll be honest it feel too quality outside but bad inside

That would be a nice addition skimmer with a valve to go deep or off the top 👍👍
