The Reconquista enters into a new phase of conquest and Castile leads the way. Amazing that the "amateurs" in the backwaters of TH-cam provide more professional and interesting historical renditions than mainstream television networks like History Channel and national geographic with their billions of dollars and hundreds of "experts". Are they ashamed of themselves? Ancient astronaut theorists say YES!
The History Channels hardly has anything to do with history anymore and doesn't seem to pay any experts in any meaningful sense of the word. NatGeo is still OK, but History started out as very shallow and turned out a lot worse about ten years ago. Stopped watching it completely back then.

Whoever chose the tracks of this episode must have great musical sensibility. I'm still taking my time to study it more deeply, but from the initial impressions I've had from studying Spanish history, it seems like they were years, even centuries, ahead in intellectual discussions, such as in philosophy with João de São Tomás.
Thank you for this video, you're a hero for making content on Spanish history, a subject that, it seems, is being deleted and Spanish merits are very much forgotten.
I think you're right - seems like the history books jump from 711 to 1492 with the fall of Granada. They seem to gloss over 781 years of history

@@takshashila2995 ya but Khanacademy isnt really "free" it runs off donations and volunteers not donating means it will eventually cease to exists so whether you donate monthly or pay subscription or volunteer your time your still paying somehow nothing is "free" and for every flashpoint out in wild world of youtube there many more that dont bother to research and make massive over generalizations without the required nuance for history which means you need to be good enough to detect the fakes from the real ones which when you dont know much about the subject aint that easy to do. Bias's like conformation bias, or dunning krueger effect are rampant on youtube and one should be more careful to assume this is the best way to learn. Certainly is a great tool when used in combination with other tools it can be very effective but it certainly shouldn't be relied upon as your only source.

But sadly there are lots of kids and older people disregarding history as something boring and not important. 683: The campaign of Sultan Al-Mansour to Castile: he launched raids [for 3 months and 10 days] on the areas of Jerez & Wadi Lakkah, he destroyed the area of Seville ,Niebla ,Écija and the areas around the mountains of al-sharaf,he managed to kill all the fighting men in this areas ,then he sacked Caramona & Jazirat qabtur, killing all of its men and capturing thousands of its residents ...he also destroyed many of Forts like Al Qanatir, Rutta, Raksh, and Martug, after killing their garrisons
690 Sultan Yusuf ibn Yaqoub's campaign to Castile due to the raids of Sancho & the breach of the peace traty and after the Castilian fleet attacked and destroyed a Marinid fleet
in this campaign: Sultan besieged the fort of Bajir for 3 months, and during this period launched several devastating raids on the areas of Seville & Jerez
692: The campaign of Omar ibn Saud ibn Kharbash al-Hashemi: he besieged Tarif for several months but failed to capture it
709: The attempts of the Marinid fleet to break the siege of the Algacira, Gibraltar and Almeria managed to destroy several Castilian and Aragonese ships and cut their supply lines .. the commander Yahya bin Abdullah Ibn Abi Al-Ala [commander of the Marinid invaded and fought the Castilians in 73 battles and raids ] managed to annilihate a Castilian army led by Alfonso Perez near Merchana, while Commander Othman Ibn Abi Al-Ala [the greatest Marinid Commander invaded and fought the Castilians &Aragonese in 732 battles and raids] was able to inflict several heavy defeats on the Aragonese & Castilians until the year 712 AH

716 Yahya bin Abi Talib Al-Azzafi's campaign to Gibraltar: he beseiged it for several days and almost captured it
He also managed to annihilate the Castile fleet and kill its commander known as "Gizmaq".
719: The Marinids with Granada's forces succeeded in repelling and destroying the Castilian Crusade of 135,000 crusaders.
732-733: the Sultan's expedition and with the help of Sultan Granada he managed to conquer and seize Gibraltar, and killed the Castilian garrison after a siege of 6 months
Then he managed to expel the Castilian forces with great losses
740 The Sultan's campaign [backed by the Hafsid fleets] to Castile to reconquer Tarif: The Marinid fleet led by Muhammad ibn Ali al-Azfi destroyed the Castilian fleet in a naval battle and killed its commander known as"Al-mulund"
In it they besieged Tarif and its garrison for 6 months until the soldiers' supplies ran out before the Sultan's army was heavily defeated by the Castilians&their allies in (Rio Salido ) in which the marinids lost 50,000 men
742-743: Campaign to break the siege of Algaciras failed and the fortified city falls
750: the Marinid garrison of Gibraltar succeeded in repelling the Castilians
The Marinid rule continued in Andalusia until 775 AH but continued to support Granada with men and money in their wars against castilla till its falls

This is really what history is though, it isn't talking about old dead dudes, its telling a story. You can take a moral from the story, but regardless of anything, it was a mans life. It has the same functions as fiction, yet, is more impactful because we can look around us and see what they did, not just imagine it.

@@FlashPointHx Yes please. I would also like to get to know more about Spanish campaigns among the Aztecs and Incans. Just some caveats though. Spaniards actually used Aztecs and Incans in their wars with Muslims in Southeast Asia. Take for example the conqueror of Muslim Manila, Juan de Salcedo was born in Mexico and had a romance with Princess Kandarapa of Tondo who was Buddhist. There were also scores of Mexican-Mollucan hybrids who settled in the Sultanates of Ternate and Tidor while it was under Spanish occupation before they retreated to the Philippines...

There was another unknown front in the Spanish-Turkish Wars that were not just in the Mediterranean, there was a front here in Southeast Asia. The Sultanate of Aceh submitted itself as a vassal and territory of the Ottoman Caliphate and thus went head to head against the Iberian Union...

The racial make-up of the Christian side was diverse since it were usually made up of Mestizos, Mulattoes and Native Americans (Aztecs, Mayans and Incans) who were gathered and sent from Mexico and were led by Spanish officers who had worked together with native Filipinos in military campaigns across the Southeast Asia.
The Muslim side though was also equally racially diverse. In addition to the native Malay warriors, the Ottomans had repeatedly sent military expeditions to nearby Aceh. The expeditions were composed mainly of Turks, Egyptians, Swahilis, Somalis, Sindhis, Gujaratis and Malabars.[10] These expeditionary forces had also spread to other nearby Sultanates such as Brunei and had taught local mujahideen new fighting tactics and techniques on how to forge cannons.

I think the Philippines scenario would be the only recorded instances wherein Aztec Eagle Warriors clashed with Ottoman Jannisaries never mind that the Cagayan Battles where the only cases wherein Samurais encountered Conquistadors. But do focus on Mexico and the Incans more, their histories are understudied. And although ours is even more understudied than theirs, they should have chronological priority however.
@@FlashPointHx Also the next generation of Reconquista can focus on Spain helping the Reconquista of the nations allied under it. Hungary for example was invaded by the Ottomans and what was left of Hungary became "Royal Hungary" and was given to the Hapsburgs and they reconquered Hungary from the Ottomans. Tondo in the Philippines for example was reduced by th Bruneians but when To do allied under Spain, they reconquered their Philippine territories.
