Hey you sexy beast! I have a quick question for you (or any experienced drummer out there) I want to start learning drums and i just put a E drumkit into my shopping cart at Thomann. Now is the question: Should i get a double paddle right at the start or not? My final goal is to be able to play Deathmetal so i am going to need one sooner or later but i do realise that it takes years and years of practice to get to that level. I might be a bit quicker in learning because i have played E guitar for 18 years now so i got a good song understanding and rythm already but i only ever had one drum lesson to see if it was something for me. I wont be able to get actual lessons because of Work and studying for the next 2 years so that will definetly add a few years to my learning experience though. What do you think? Double pedal or single pedal or "Dont get drums when you cant get lessons"?
Nice that you get yourself an E drumkit! I started right away with a double pedal. I don't see a reason why you should not use a double pedal at the beginning. Especially when you want to play metal later on. "Dont get drums when you cant get lessons"? GET DRUMS!! very simple answer I learned everything by myself without lessons. Watch videos of your favorite drummers and try to copy their moves. They are the best teachers out there.
