- Since the start of our rabbitry, we searched for an economical feed source. For the past few months we have successfully been growing our own feed, right in our living room.

Does feeding just this one type of food as a main food source give the rabbits the full nutrients they need? I always thought that the rabbits need thier daily diet to be about 70-75% hay. Especially for thier teeth. If they are eating mostly barley grass how do they keep thier teeth from overgrowing? I have pet rabbits for about 4 years now but I'm always interested in learning more. I'd love to hear from you. Thanks for posting

I've seen some people add bleach to their water because they say you can get mold in the fodder. have you ever had a problem with mold? Did you build the rack for your trays, and do you have instructions how you built it?

What is the timers duration .? Like whats the interval of water flowing through the seed ?? N is it good for angora rabbits ??
My rabbits r brough to city from mountain so they r not happy with the dry diet as there where having amazing green stuff there n the worst part is 3 of then full growns r dead n its killing me

I haven't had this set up in a number of years, but I can tell you that buying the barley in bulk will help bring the costs down.

How many Hours and how many times do you have to water the trays?

Good question. There is plenty of info available online for similar setups. It's been quite some time since we had this in operation, but from what I remember is that we ran it on a timer scheduled a few times a day for 5 to 10 minutes. It would clog every so often so I checked on it every day when I took the fodder out to feed the rabbits. It was plenty healthy and easy to do, but it required daily attention.

Where can I find Barley seeds to buy?
We bought 500 lbs at a time from a local farmer/distributor when we were still raising rabbits. Worked perfectly.
What is the intervals of the pump to water the grains. Or how often do you water the system.
I don't have this system anymore, but I had the water on a timer for a few minutes several times a day. It worked perfectly.

It's good clean meat , they reproduce every 30 days and get at least 6 rabbits and they are organic since the only eat grass and veggies. Delicious, nutritional and healthy 😋 can't go wrong

I tried this a few years ago but sounds that only one tray had matured and the tray that did mature ended up getting mold and maggots in it. What did I do wrong? I believe I just had a batch of old seed. I'm willing to try again with new seed but I no longer have the setup that I used.

Did you kept sprouts in the soil in the tray or sprouts directly in the tray? Or something else, it was looking foam.

You eat them?! 😭 they are friends not food. They look like they have a sad life stuck in that cage until they die too. 😢
We do. The meat is extremely healthy and we control what they eat. No antibiotics, hormones, or anything unnatural. People have been eating wild rabbits forever and domestic rabbits for hundreds if not thousands of years. They life a very comfortable life outside away from the danger of predators. They get all the sun, water, and food they want. There is no danger of mites or fleas. In captivity they have a much healthier and longer lifespan. Their death is always instant and humane, which is the complete opposite of what they would expect in the wild.
@@GettinJunkDone but they have no room to jump and binky and run. They need to have room to run really fast. They are so sweet and loving. I mean look at the wittle face! Dont you want to just kiss it. U should just cuddle them and eat some beans. Beans are good they dont clog arteries too unlike rabbit meat.

Nice work, starting a rabbit colony next year and I've just started looking at vids for growing food for them and this is great, cheap and easy to build. I already have the grow lights from years of growing plants, the rest looks easy to get.
Really good idea of gathering everything you need beforehand with lots of planning. Raising rabbits is not difficult and is very rewarding! Good luck!
