Oats? Wheat? Just curious if they will work also. Maybe just list what we should NOT feed them if the list is shorter. Thanks. I am a permaculture type and always looking to keep my animals as close to natural as possible, including a small 30gallon pond. Cheers.

I'd like to share some more plants i feed my rabbits. Fodder beet/mangelwurzel- Beta vulgaris- root like beet, traditionally used for cattle, yields 20-30 tonnes per acre! Great nutticious value! I they weren't so labour intensive(to prep for cattle), all dairy farmers around the world would still feed them. Rabbits eat the whole beet without leaves, not so labour intensive. When harvesting, cut the leaves above the top the beet, undamaged beets last longer. Harvested around first frost, when stored dry they'll be alrigth for up to 6 months! Leaves are not great for rabbits, but if you have meat rabbits it's alrigth because they won't get old enough to have problems from the leaves. My rabbits love them, i buy them for around €50 per metric tonne, homegrown last longer because they are cleaner and not harvested mechanically/damaged. I dare to say they cut my feed bill in half in winter+winter kits grow like hell on it. (Sweet) corn- i eat the cobs, my rabbits eat the plants and underdevelopted cobs. I leave the stalks in the ground when i harvest the corn, i'll feed them before they'll dry. You could also use regular feed corn, hang the cobs to dry and feed the plants. Downside is plants will dry out, rabbits won't bother but in some climates the stalks will turn moldy. The kernels itself are not good for rabbits, but you can feed them to meat rabbits. Again, they won't get old enough to have problems with the corn. Meat rabbits grow extremely fast when fed with corn buy they'll have some yellow fat. Around here people feed the corn on the cob, saves time shelling, easier to hang to dry and the rabbits can eat it easier.
Thank you for all the valuable information! There is a book I found that has some pretty cool stuff in it: www.amazon.com/s?k=beyond+the+pellet+feeding+rabbits+naturally&i=stripbooks&camp=1789&creative=9325&linkCode=ur2&linkId=8ae3c66a7face8f091b63170fb5e50b9&tag=razzledazzl01-20

I do, but here is a great resource for feeding rabbits naturally: www.amazon.com/s?k=beyond+the+pellet+feeding+rabbits+naturally&i=stripbooks&camp=1789&creative=9325&linkCode=ur2&linkId=23ccd8c5558247f5af315e7106bf37fd&tag=razzledazzl01-20
Thanks for the video. Very inspiring. I'm wondering what you grow for protein? I've been reading that younger rabbits need lots of alfalfa for protein . I suspect that the sunflower plant and bean plants would constitute as a protein supplement? Thanks again.
There is a book called "Beyond the Pellet." I recommend reading this book because it addresses protein needs for rabbits in a cost effective way. Here is a link to it: www.amazon.com/s?k=Beyond+the+Pellet+Feeding+rabbits+naturally&i=stripbooks&camp=1789&creative=9325&linkCode=ur2&linkId=57569a1f1990551ae1fc8acd9398c07d&tag=razzledazzl01-20
Hi, interesting video. I have pet rabbits rather than for meat, but like to give them lots of foraged plants. Do you feed them any pellets or avoid them altogether? Thanks.
I have been feeding floribunda roses and raspberry vines although I only feed raspberry vines last week of pregnancy or dry does. Cut some locust limbs for high protein for my lactating does.
I have green pole beans that have wonderful leaves but it’s not producing beans. Are those leaves I could harvest and feed or dry for winter? I was going to pull them out anyway to plant other stuff. Thanks!
Thank you for the video, it was helpful. Can you tell me about the collapsible exercise pen? Like where you bought it, what is the shape and size, or if it has another name it's known by?

I do not have an answer for you as I do not raise guinea pigs and have never lived with one. I have heard the seeds are not to be fed to them, however, my knowledge is limited to rabbits. Have you been able to find an answer?
When you cut the cage, only cut out 3 side. Bottom, left, right. Fold the cut out up and install j feeder. The cutout allows you to take the feeder out and close the hole back up.
They moved on, saw none on my property this summer but I got a Rex rabbit put him in a large cage and connected the cage to an underground bunker to stay cool in summers. I love his production of garden pellets 💩

Hi, I wanted to ask if you have had the chance to feed rabbits with addicted hooked bristlegrass?
Is this a plant you have experience feeding your rabbits?
@RabbitryandYarns nop
How about flax grass? We are growing a lot to harvest the seeds. Thank you so much

Hi, interesting video. I have pet rabbits rather than for meat, but like to give them lots of foraged plants. Do you feed them any pellets or avoid them altogether? Thanks.
I do feed pellets also. I rely on them more in winter. In summer and early fall, I can forage/grow their food.
I have been feeding floribunda roses and raspberry vines although I only feed raspberry vines last week of pregnancy or dry does. Cut some locust limbs for high protein for my lactating does.
Mint will help with drying out milk. A tip for after weaning to make the doe more comfortable
Thank you for the comments!
I have green pole beans that have wonderful leaves but it’s not producing beans. Are those leaves I could harvest and feed or dry for winter? I was going to pull them out anyway to plant other stuff. Thanks!
Yes, you certainly can harvest them, dry them and feed them to your bunnies.
Salut, iată o informație de care nu eram sigur că e bună , mulțumesc
What about cochioditis ?
Are you asking about coccidiosis or something different?

With rabbits, it's more of a question of what green leaves can't they eat!
They do seem to have a reputation of skilled plant eradicators. :)
Can guinea pigs eat sunflower plants as well?
I do not have an answer for you as I do not raise guinea pigs and have never lived with one. I have heard the seeds are not to be fed to them, however, my knowledge is limited to rabbits. Have you been able to find an answer?
What type of pellet feeders are those? I have bowls right now but am looking at this type. Also did you have to cut the cage to install them?
They are called J feeders and you have to cut to put into cage. Can purchase at Tractor Supply or local feed store.
When you cut the cage, only cut out 3 side. Bottom, left, right.
Fold the cut out up and install j feeder.
The cutout allows you to take the feeder out and close the hole back up.
I did cut the wire to install. These are 2.5 pound feeders, but I no longer remember exactly where they came from!
You didn’t say the name of the grass that you can dry out for hay
There are many different kinds. Depends on the area you are in.
Wild rabbits are eating passion fruit leaves and peanut leaves on my homestead.. I will plant more for them
How are the wild rabbits doing?
They moved on, saw none on my property this summer but I got a Rex rabbit put him in a large cage and connected the cage to an underground bunker to stay cool in summers. I love his production of garden pellets 💩
How often should you feed the plants you listed to your rabbit?
Our rabbits eat daily
It depends on the available items. Here is a resource I found valuable about feeding rabbits naturally: www.amazon.com/s?k=beyond+the+pellet+feeding+rabbits+naturally&i=stripbooks&camp=1789&creative=9325&linkCode=ur2&linkId=23ccd8c5558247f5af315e7106bf37fd&tag=razzledazzl01-20
Don’t harvest all the radishes… cut the greens all summer
That is an option for sure.
