    Reminds me of the late 70’s a buddy was building a V8 Vega. Had the fenders and valence panels curing in the sun on the driveway after priming. His wife comes flying up the drive and runs over everything

    Some very creative touches on this Vega, along with the regular repairs. Only crazy H-Body owners (like me/us) understand and love GM's most unloved/forgotten cars. I am getting ready to pick up and finish my 79 v8 monza 2+2. Then start conversion of my 75 monza 2+2 4cyl. Always looking for new ideas, for the unloved H-Body.

      Takes crazy to recognize crazy! Sometimes I stop and think why am i doing this? The struggle of not having a catalog of parts or the availability of used components is always a fun challenge. Hopefully you're on the H-body forum! Lots of like minded people who don't mind a challenge.

      @@BadBowtie91 I couldn't have said it any better than that. H-body owners everywhere are shaking their heads YES that's right. We wont give up on the unloved Almost Hotrods. Now I am retired, and for the first time joining a H-body forum is making sense to me. I need to tap that h-body collective for info. Any suggestions would be great. I would love to attend a hbody gathering sometime.

    Back in 1981 I fixed a 74 get Vega up, it had been wrecked and the motor was bad. Took the front end of a 73 Vega and married it to the 74 ass end. Pulled the 4 banger out but had one problem . No 4 cylinder or v6 or small block v8 around and I had very minimal funds. Found a 194 Chevy straight six and with alittle persuasion from a 10 pound sledge to the firewall and relocating the radiator she fit like a glove in there lol
    If I would of known what they would be worth today I would of been alittle nicer to the old beast lol
    It was my first car and so many times I have wished I had never gotten rid of it. 😁

      My cousin tells me stories about doing 180's and 360's by student drivers in his back in the 80s to scare them. They were extremely disposable! Sounds like a fun car to have had!

    @MrSFSTUDIOS Thanks, still need to make a video of the rest of the V8 transformation. Paint and body will be the last thing to do once it has been daily driven for a few years.

    factory monza v8 frame plates and motor mounts. I didnt need a panhard bar because my vega had the early 4 link suspension rather than the later version.

    what motor mounts and frame mounts did you use, and how did you get away from using panhard bar.building my own and dont want to use the transdapt mounts.

    Hey James, I really enjoyed your videos. I do have a question. What did you do with the lower control arm to put the S10 lower ball joint in it? it looks like you cut a larger hole and welded in a bearing race. i have purchased a kit with ball joint adapter bushings, but i would rather use the larger, stronger, ball joint if possible. so whats up? finished product is awesome.

    • @BadBowtie91
      @BadBowtie91  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Ricky Walden I modified it to accept the balljoints from an s10 using a weld in sleeve, much larger than the factory vega one. Also while doing this you move them slightly to improve camber characteristics. You can find pictures and a PDF instruction here : forums.h-body.org/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=23253&start=60

    What year s10 pickup did you use or was it a blazer? Thanks.

    • @BadBowtie91
      @BadBowtie91  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I used 80-87 S10 spindles, but its not a drop in deal unless you use adapters (www.v8monza.com/faq-fsus-S10_front-walk-thru.htm). I welded in a sleeve to install s10 balljoints and correct the camber issues. The blazer spindles are a bit of an upgrade because they have dual pistons but they also have a wheel hub thats prone to failure and stick out an extra 1/8-1/4" (if i remember right). Some info on the sleeves here: forums.h-body.org/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=46214 . A lot more info on that forum too.

    • @BadBowtie91
      @BadBowtie91  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@cushionface09Anytime, having a 75 you're saving yourself a lot of hassle since you have the deep spring pockets 74+, theres a lot of improvements with the bigger balljoints and brakes especially if you correct the camber offset, with the s10/blazer brakes it also opens the door for corvette or LS1 brakes if you want to run 16" + wheels. Id check out forums.h-body.org/ for all your questions and also use this to search the website for information:

    • @BadBowtie91
      @BadBowtie91  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I made them from the original dimensions back then. However there is someone on the forums.h-body.org/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=45112 who is now making and selling them. As far as I know there are no manufacturers for them yet.

      @BadBowtie91  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@henryalicea6222 can’t help much there, I don’t have much reference for that kind of modification. Although I’ve seen some adjustable torque arms for 3rd gen Camaros, I think spohn can make one. To add in upper 4 link brackets would be tough but not impossible.
