2022 Acura NSX Type S - Better than before?

  • 2022 is the last model year for the second-generation NSX and Acura wants to make it special.
    The 2022 Acura NSX Type S gets a powerboost of 27 hp, giving it 600 horsepower and 492 lb-ft of torque to which makes it a full two seconds quicker around its Suzuka circuit than the 2019-2021 NSX according to Acura.
    Acura will only make 350 NSX Type-S’s worldwide with the majority of them, more specifically 300 coming to the U.S. Every 2022 model year NSX will be a Type S
    So what about the price? The Type-S starts at $171,495 which is $12,000 more than last year's NSX. That might sound like a lot but not when you consider the Type S carbon-fiber roof, which used to be a $6000 option now comes standard.
    If you want to go even lighter, you can shed an additional 58 pounds by adding the lightweight package which comes with more carbon fiber bits and pieces.
    My opinion on the 2022 Acura NSX Type S

      @@VietnamAndKoreanFlashbacks An NSX to "cheap corvette" is actually a good comparison. They have similar 0-60s, the "cheap corvette" actually being faster. They are both mid engine supercars which make similar torque figures although the Acura makes more power likely because it revs higher (horsepower is torque multiplied by rpm) and the hybrid system. I do agree that you cannot compare a lambroghini to either as they much faster and more exotic.

    I honestly prefer the 2022 refresh. It looks a lot more stealthy and I hope that the performance justifies the way it looks as well as the price since we all know when the second gen NSX released, it didn't get as much attention compared to the original NSX and that mainly had to do with the price. Lexus went through a similar process with the LFA as it was just way too expensive and they didn't have anything else interesting to show off. If a manufacturer makes a halo car, they can't solely rely on that specific car and hope people will be attracted to the brand. You need to show your other vehicles as well in order for people to be fully engaged.

    • @jamesaron1967
      @jamesaron1967 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, the performance is essentially the same as the outgoing model with a small bump in horsepower. If the styling seems pretentious then given the nominal increase in performance, it probably is.

    The nsx needed an update. It was starting to age a bit and needed enhancements. The new design gives the front fascia a much better 3 quarter view, lengthens the body to give it a wider stance, a more menacing stare, and is just sleeker offering more balance to an already beautiful car that just seemed to lack something.

    The 2022 NSX is the only second gen NSX model year that I wouldn’t be ashamed to be seen in. The 20222 NSX type S looks beautiful. It’s such a massive improvement for the exterior and it finally reaches that magical 600 number for horsepower. Maybe it’s just psychological, but having a six instead of a five as your first number in your horsepower rating seems to put the car in a much higher echelon and prestigious category.

      He explained that warmer = more feeling. In that case i would assume something positive, as especially italian car design is called like that (in other words called emotional). Now that is also why (at least in my opinion) they make the most beautiful cars. Doesnt really have anything to do with a female designing the car, at least im pretty sure that this is not the first question somebody has in their mind when looking at a new car (or cars in general). And lets also get something clear, you can play that card "because its made by a woman" literally anywhere, making the woman a victim in a situation that doesnt even have any indicators for it. Something that never lies though are numbers, and as we all know, the cars design is what makes it getting sold. Still, respect your opinion and you dont have to agree with mine.

    The 2020 Acura NSX to me looks like a daily driver that has had some mods thrown over it to seem like its better than it is. The front looks weird for a supercar, so the the new updated 22 looks way more sporty and the front actually fits the rest of the car.

    damn.. the new front look really screams Honda. I like it. Unlike the previous model

    I agree. Front end of the previous generation into this face lift.
    Imo they're just fiddling with the design rather than providing any serious improvements.
    They should have re visited the interior. That was not the interior of a 100K car

    As you said, old front end is way nicer, and that is what the designer Michelle want, the new back end is indeed, nicer than the old one.

    The exclusivity is all that makes it special, other than that, acura (Again) dropped the ball on this one. Nobody can deny the beauty of this car, it is attractive, the problem is its competition. For the dollar, a 27hp boost does not makes this a worthy send-off of a the popular name. It's a nail to the coffin as the underperformed halo car it was originally introduced as.

    An issue I personally always with this generation of NSX was that it felt less unique compared to how unique the mk1 and mk2 were. I just can't really shake that out of my head. I'm no designer (despite designing my own car being a dream I'd like to turn into a reality someday) so it could just be me, but I still feel that way about this car. It made and still makes me feel like it was heavily inspired by the Audi R8 rather than being its own clean slate.
    Overall, between the two designs, I do feel like the overall look of the Type S is more refined and complete. However, I don't think NSX owners should be bothered by it being a limited edition because I feel like there are many modification companies and/or private parties that would love to "mimic" the styling on the Type S. Even if you had the money, it wouldn't make sense to buy the Type S if you had the 2021 NSX. It's far cheaper and far more reasonable to pay less and convert it into a fake Type S or go for modifications that make it similar but distinct. That way you can have the best of both worlds.
    Quick note! I don't know how modifications on modern cars are seen in the states or in Europe so I don't know the consequences that it has on you for your insurance or if it is even legal, but if people are crazy enough to modify modern Lamborghinis, they can have that same craziness for the NSX. After all, it is just another amazing Japanese car, so why not modify it like many other beautiful Japanese cars?

    PROS: New rear end, new turbos + battery delivering more power and probably understated numbers. Also like the red motor cover.
    CONS: dont like the new front end--prefer old one, dont like the black mirror tops, dont like the black door handle--it should be body color, dont like the new shiny carbon rear engine cover--that's going to reflect like crazy in the rear view, new rims are meh.. old BBS FI style rims look way better

    Car looks great. Always did look great. It's problem is it's cost and it's weight? You have to pony up 10 to 14 grand for a lightweight package on a 3900 lb car? That's just ridiculous!

    as u said If I were to hv a nsx between the newer 1s I would do exactly as u said even I like the front end of the 2015 or 2021 but felt that the rear was off in the current model. so, juz getting the bumper of the 2022 model would be enough to improve that feeling
    not saying that the 2022 front end looks bad, I juz prefer the 2021 AKA 2015 front end
    And loved to hear that a new integra is on the way
    As always great vid THANK YOU

    I like the front end a lot more on the new one. The 2020 looks toooooo Acura. As in it looked like it was cheaper Acura normal front bumper. It looks way more aggressive now with the front end and doesn’t scream Acura to me which I much prefer.

    The new one Rocks, like a samurai sword. I dont like the crab claw signature that Honda is sticking to, maybe if the bottom portion was removed and the vertical line was a little longer.... Or they could have just closed up the inner part instead of leaving it open like a crab claw, I'd prefer the claw closed, if I can put it that way.

    if this lands in the price range of corvette c8 that would be a deal for lot of people, still for the price it has serious performance and features. the front end kind a resembles like an hornet the insect, but looks great.

    It's funny that you mention you liked the front end, but not the rear.. While in my opinion, the front of the old model didn't match the designflow of the rest of the car. The new design matches front, side and rear much better. Besides, the old front always reminded me of a designer who wanted to make a sport version of an opel sedan front... too much being different while maintaining older style lineflow... wasn't working for me

  • @Mgn-1
    @Mgn-1 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I didn’t like the new front, it’s like a C8 that wanted to mimic Lambo, lower lip below the air vents is gone and made it lose visual weight, the 2020 version looked planted, now it makes me think it’s an aftermarket front fender, the back is ok and the color is nice but still want to see it in the blue or white paint scheme from the older one.
