I remember flying out of Stapleton that same year to Tulsa, OK. A few day later when flying back into Denver, we flew into a storm and the turbulence was so bad I almost threw up the way the plane was bouncing up and down. Never been on a flight that bumpy since.
I worked for EPIC Fuels on the commercial airline accounts just as the Continental and United merger happened. I was new to the aviation industry, so I didn’t have the historical context at the time.
Continental was the pits for most of the 80s. They really suffered under Lorenzo from 1987-1991. Finally, by early 1993 you could feel that the energy and morale were getting better after Lorenzo was booted out. I flew CO from CLE-DCA in March/April '93 and the employees looked happier, the airline had a new livery. Goner were the awful days of the late 80s.
Denver built Continental a hub at the new Denver airport and after delays, Continental lost trust with the Denver Airport authorities, and decided not to have the hub at the A gates w/ the bridge
I always liked Continental. Although I started flying them in the early 90s. Many times from sfo-newark dc 10 service. And Sacramento to Denver 737 or MD 80

I was an F/A for Continental during this time. We were awful, just awful.

I remember this, it was Continental vs. United in 1987 or 88 at DEN/Stapleton.
1987. Continental 1713.
Now they’re the same airline operating their largest hub at DIA.
And in 2012, Continental merged into United. How about that?
Lol ikr
Yeah worst day ever.
