That's pretty scary LOL. So much effort for doing something that's not at all necessary and which actually increases one's risk of some poor health outcomes.
THE 10 COMMANDMENTS PREVENTING OF INGROWN HAIRS:
1. THOU SHALT NOT USE DIRTY BLADES!
Using a blade that's been used way too many times. Yes, this one may be obvious, but be sure to keep your used tools as clean as possible. Soap and rubbing alcohol will destroy bacteria.
2. HONOR THY DELICATE SKIN!
Too many blades! If you are prone to ingrown hairs then you don’t need 3 or more blades. More blades equal more passes causing the hair to fall beneath the skin and become ingrown plus more blading the skin leads to micro cuts through which bacteria is more likely to enter.
3. DO NOT TAKE PREP TIME IN VAIN!
You should be using a warm/hot water prep (3-5 mins). Then leave the shaving cream on for more than 2-3 minutes to really soften the hair. The hair stubble should literally fall away with little or no pressure at all. Pressing hard is the problem! Be gentle ya'll.
4. THOU SHALT NOT GO AGAINST THE GRAIN!
Shaving against the grain. Shave in the direction of hair growth (usually down, but perform a face/ body map to be sure) Inspect your hairy self and notice the way the hair grows.
5. THOU SHALT NOT PRESS!
Pressing too hard on the skin with the blade. A gliding, light touch is all you need. This is likely your biggest issue.
6. THOU SHALT NOT PASS, PASS, PASS!
Too many quick passes with the blade. One pass per hairy area - going 1-2 inches downward at a time - will prevent ingrown hairs. Always shave like you might cause damage, not like your mowing the front yard lawn.
7. THOU SHALT NOT COMMIT OVER SHAVING!
Shaving too many times. This rule is hard to follow, especially if you have to shave for your career but if you are prone to ingrowns, try shaving with an electric clipper. The results are not super close but no one but you will know the difference. Ladies, try waxing.
8. THOU SHALT NOT CLOG!
Use of skin/pore clogging creams or lotions. These keep hairs from growing up. After a shave, keep your skin bare; let the tiny army breath, and allow those newly shaved, really small, microscopic hairs to grow out just in time for the next shave.
9. KEEP THY SMOOTH SKIN FREE!
At least for the first day or two, try to avoid tight fitting clothing around the Adam’s apple (neck) and/or below the waistline region. Newly shaved hair follicles need room to raise up.
10. REMEMBER TO EXFOLIATE!
Not enough exfoliation to remove excess layers of skin causes ingrown hairs. Use an ingrown hair brush for razor bumps as directed. Make sure it’s a brush that has special bristles designed to tease newly shaved hairs away from entering the skin before they can become ingrown. If you have sensitive skin, then go with the soft and firm bristles.Try a Wizker brush and you’ll prevent razor bumps and ingrown hairs permanently! HUGS:)

Yeah especially the butthole part. I still don't get why she, or anyone else would say you have to. As if it's going to have negative effects on you if you shave your cooch but not butt hole. I personally think it's weird to shave your butt hole unless someone's going to be seeing it and you also really want to. I mean part of the reason it's there is to stop bacteria from going in.
Hey Everyone, hey Mai,
first of all thank u for this amazing guide, bought and tried a similar razor today (Gillette proglide 5 power) and I am shocked how well it works even if u shave with the hairgrowth direction. I remember searching for a guide like this when I was first trying to shave my pubes and none of the videos I watched were this accurate and helpful. I will just try to add in some extra advice from my personal experience.
1. be very gentle and do not use to much pressure, if the blade is sharp it will work just as good
2. shave in the evening and sleep with no underwear or cotton underwear
3. definetly use products that are free of perfume and alkohol, in germany their are a lot of good razor foams that are ultra sensitive and marketed for men
4. hair is natural and in my experience partners do not care if ur meow meow is a bit spikey. Give ur skin some rest and dont stress it or yourself to much
5. use a little stand up mirror to see what you are doing if u are not as flexible
6. keep ur freshly razored skin out of the sun and out of the pool
7. u are beautiful and razor bumps or little imperfections will not change that

I have an unhealthy obsession with watching peoples shave routines bc I just can’t get mine smooth for the life of me
One thing that really helped me is using baby oil gel after I shave. I put it on after I’m done showering while my skin is still kind of wet, rub it in good then pat off with a towel to finish drying off if you need to. It also works really well as shaving gel!

@@gracywatkins9216 hey, i don’t know if you’re still reading this, but darker skin down there is normal, its just the pigment of your skin which happens to be there in bigger amount than in the rest of the skin. A lot of that is genetics, but there are methods like laser treatment to lighten the skin :)

I’m so glad someone finally made an in depth video about shaving without it being too complicated- I really hope you keep making these types of videos- since it’s really important to teach young adults how to do things like shaving, so if they ever want to give it a go- they don’t accidentally hurt themselves. But sadly with the stigma and misinformation about these types of topics it can really do some harm.. I’m very lucky to of had a mum who taught me the bare basics of shaving my legs but even she didnt really understand the full way of exfoliating, moisturising and etc. I stumbled upon your channel recently and honestly it’s now one of my favs ❤️ keep doing what your doing lovely!

It's so stupid when I get decades-flashbacks like how when waxing was new, selling the idea of "no in-grown hair!", so I ditched my razor first for burning hair removal cream thennn to waxing.. Now at 31: home-waxing. But bikini area seems to get more in-grown from waxing, even if I exfoliate beforehand 🤕 and it hurts when they swell like a mutated pimple! Some I can remove once the "pimple pops", then pull the clogged hair but omg surely these leaves dark marks and I am not a Dalmatian dog.. So now I will go back to razor? I trust you, Mai! 🤩 Will try and find a 5 blade! (And I thought my 3 blade were something fancy.. 🤣) Thank Youuu, Mai! 🙇🏻♀️
P/S: If you have trouble to hold the inner lips (for those with an "outie", I used masking tape/ medical white tape to tape the lip one side at a time and alternate 🤣🤣🤣 It doesn't hurt coz just mildly sticks to your skin!)

Just a PSA to anyone that always gets ingrown hairs it's because of your hair type!! Girls with thick, coarse, or curly/wavy hair are more likely to get them as opposed to girls with straight hair. If you get them try cleansing the area first, shaving with conditioner to soften the hair, cleanse again, and lastly put fragrance free lotion on. This has helped me get fewer ingrown hair with my hair type.

pro tip:
If u have a tendency to get itchy, use a SMALL amount of hydrocortisone on the OUTSIDE ONLY. It seriously helps to reduce the itch
even more pro tip: don´t use it too often as it thins out the skin making it more prone to damage, use juniper berry water instead it contains several compounds that soothe the skin as well as regulating too dry or too oily skin
