Yesss that part with the bucket and the part when she meets Louie and she thinks its a test to see if she can handle business..... I was like poor girl!
That part also got to me. The whole book really takes you on an emotional rollercoaster and dives into so many topics that people just don't want to acknowledge. I love the writing style of Tiffany D. Jackson and can't wait to read more of her books, but I also know that they will probably hit me in the feels as well. Have you read any of her other books?
@@FallBetweenThePages Yes I have read all except "Let Me Hear a Rhyme". Heavy-hitting books. As a woman who dated a 22-year-old when I was 16. He even came to my Junior Miss... of course, my parents didn't have any idea... yes it was wrong but as the book states "He knew better". This book really hit me to the core, granted there wasn't any abuse at all.. but still... it was wrong.
This book!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I want ready for part 2. That part was so hard to get through. But I'm so glad I pushed through. The writing was amazing! And I loved her portrayal of everything. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was not male bashing, or over the top cop bashing. It just simply told a story, through a young adults eye. And enchanted is a smart girl. She just wasnt ready for this situation. And if korey was a normal adult, this wouldn't have happened but he was a predator, and THAT is the problem!!
Yes! I completely agree with you. He definitely was a problem and yes, eventhough Enchanted is smart she got caught up with someone she barely knew treating her like an adult. And sadly she wasn't ready for the harsh reality or the situation that Korey made. I love the book as it is and maybe a second one could focus on Enchanted's growth and a healthy relationship she finds later; that also touches on her overcoming her trauma. That would be an intriguing read. What was your favorite or least favorite part of the book?
It pulled at my heart strings too 😭 I love that a bit of hope was offered though. I didn’t feel like the end of the book was really the end for Enchanted.
I didn’t really enjoy the book. SPOILERS!! I felt Corey was really undeveloped as a character and when they went on tour it didn’t make any sense how automagically he became possessive his back story was weird. And the mental health plot thing she does confuses me even in Monday’s not coming
Bizarre Star I can understand how feel. The book did seem to rush at some parts when a deeper backstory or explanation could have been placed in to fully connect the dots. Although Corey’s character wasn’t 3D like Enchanted’s, I can see what the author was doing. Placing him as a symbol of what men like him with power and fame are capable/and have been capable of. But I also would have liked a bit more from his character as well, just to round him out and give him more personality than the aggression and the two faced dance he did with Enchanted. And trust me, you are not the only one. When she started “seeing” things, I honestly thought I missed an important piece of the story. Did she have mental illness? Was this mentioned beforehand? Did I not notice because my heart was being wrenched out of my body?😭 I came to realize only after finishing the book that the author meant for those few scenes to be a personification of how women feel after being told that they made it up or were just being paranoid. After being told over and over again that what you experienced wasn’t real, you begin to question if other aspects of your life are real; thus real paranoia sets in and is seen as Schizophrenia or symptoms of mental illness. It’s a shame what so many women go through only to be told that it was all in their head. I haven’t read Monday’s Not Coming, but I have added to my TBR since finishing this book. What book have you read recently that you did enjoy? I’m always looking for more books to add to my growing TBR ✌🏾📖
Meraki V. Writes Thankyou so much for the mental health clarification. I just read a deeper love inside by sister Soulja’s the sequel to the coldest winter ever and I really enjoyed it☺️
Jumping into this convo. At first I thought that Corey was under developed as well, and that he would have gotten a chapter. But upon thinking about it more I think the author consciously decided not to give him that much attention and to only snip at his traumatic past. I think she did this for two reasons the first one being that Enchanted will never know exactly what was wrong with him and even though she claimed to love him and he claimed to love her that you never truly know someone and that's how this all happened. But I also think that it served to not give the predator the satisfaction of a backstory. Because then it opens the discussion to say well he did this because he was also a victim or he did it because he had trauma as well instead of it being, no he is the adult and even if he had trauma that doesn't give you the right to then violate a young girls, make her pee in a bucket make give her a drug addiction turn her away from her family isolate her. It's become a pattern of behavior and it doesn't matter what his backstory is at this point he is a monster and he does this to get what he wants and that is young girls. Which was proven as more and more and more girls kept coming forward.
@@annikadelarosa6982 Yass!!! I also thought at first that Korey could have used a backstory; yet, it's as you've said, he didn't need one because he was an adult and knew exactly what he was doing.

I teared up and cried at several points in this book. So good 🙌🏾 Glad you enjoyed the book!
It pulled at my heart strings too 😭 I love that a bit of hope was offered though. I didn’t feel like the end of the book was really the end for Enchanted.
