I've often heard that the serpent was an antiquated out of tune instrument, but this guy proves that for every "bad" instrument, there's some freak that makes it amazing. Very well done
It's already unusual enough to have a lute playing together with an electric bass guitar, and then you add a serpent in the mix. But the result is very interesting and well-executed. Plus, it must take an extraordinary amount of skill and talent to play the serpent that well; I've only ever heard one or two other people who can actually play anything resembling music on it.
This is quite beautiful! Ive never heard of the serpent instrument, nor heard it played. But its quite mesmerizing. One question i have: Who is playing the bass line after the musician puts it down to play the serpent? It just continues on seamlessly. Perhaps a sample machine just continues it?
Salisbury, Michel Godard uses a looping device to record the 'ground bass' line that he initially plays on the bass guitar. Then he taps a pedal or something, and the device continues to play back the looped recording until he stops it later. This works well as long as that ground bass line never needs to change tempo or be altered in any way.
Hello everyone.. I love this man's music .. But as it happened I was looking after someone's dog .. And this. One was distressed .. So I played some of this music.. As an experiment maybe the dog liked the low tones as much as I did.... Not being phesetious.... But it seemed to calm her as much as me.. Please have a good end of 2020... Love to all.. And love your response.. And please forgive me for the spellings.
👍👍👍 EXTRAORDINARIO !!!!

It wasn't just for that. But we, we're reviving it, and we know well about it, it's not out of tune or difficult.
This has to be the most wonderful, most niche thing I have ever heard! Thanks for the share❤

bonjour . au sax c'est Eric Baret? Bonne journée
c'est Gavino Murgia
Interesting. Pretty easy to riff on a droning bassline tho. Enjoyable-thanks.
michel godard çaldığı alet nedir?
"Serpent" denilen bir enstruman. Ayni zamanda serpent kelimesi latince kokenli olup, yilan demekmis ki zaten sekliyle de gayet uyumlu bir isim
I'll take Monteverdi instead.
