Great looking and really well made until... Bolton Ebikes did a security vlog and it showed that several RAD batteries could be removed using a uncut key blank of the same configuration as what comes with the bike battery. Skeptical I went and bought a blank key, it unlocked the battery as well as worked in every key position. I wish anyone with the same issue the best of luck protecting that $500.00+ battery.
That’s when you make it a habit to carry the battery with you, I use a draw string backpack to put my sondors battery in, can’t wait to try out the Rad bike here but I will still carry the battery in my bag or locker at work. The lock and key is nice n all but never gave it a single thought to just leave it there with the bike
Not an owner of a Rad bike, but I never trust those locks anyways. Too many ways to get around them. If I'm leaving for more than 15 minutes I take my battery with me.
I have yet to see anyone reviewing frame size. I am interested in a smaller frame. The Rad City 3 have a considerably smaller seat tube size, 14.5 inches, compared to 17 to 19 on most other e bikes. I would very much appreciate a side by side view between the Rad City 3 and another e bike with the longer seat tube. Thanks!
Nice bike.My high step Rad City is very solid,but not great on torque and heavy. But that's a nice ,big front light- a nice upgrade! Good concise review. Thanks EBR!
yes I found that out the hard way .My fat bike is a torque monster , but my Radcity struggles to take off the line .On the plus side the motor is very quiet
I’m sorry if this sounds like a stupid question but say if you was to get a puncture in your back wheel would you still be able to take it off and repair it without messing up any electrical wires?
I got a puncture/ flat on the rear wheel ofy Rad City. I did not take my tire off but fixed the nail hole with a patch kit patch and glue . It's held for 2000 miles! So the tire can be repaired without taking it off the bike. The trick to this is to locate the puncture hole while the tube is still in the wheel. I pumped up the tire and felt for the escaping air,then marked it with a white out pen .Then I pulled out the tube ,locating the hole inthe tube,repaired it with patch and patch glue,let it set for one half hour ,put the tube back in,and pumped the tire up. Check it for escaping air.If none is detected try riding it a bit then inspect the tire for leaks. Be aware this was a nail hole puncture I had,not a snake bite( compression flat). Hope this works for you!
The answer is yes, but this is the worst scenario no matter which ebike . I can repair a flat rear tire because I carry a spare tube, pump, and bike tools, but it will definitely ruin your schedule! Take pix before any breakdown and pay attention especially to the washer positions on the wheel mount. Of course make sure to find and remove the little bastard that caused your problem.
I just ordered rad rover 5 and many add ons...I can't wait ;) I made my informed decision based on several reviews and the companies videos posted on youtube including the sizing and hight when choosing a e Fat bike ..I'll post more after I get it and ride
Yes but it will make it no longer a class 2 bike because 20mph is class 2 anything faster is considered a vehicle that requires drivers license, insurance, registration, obeying traffic laws, not riding on the sidewalk and thus makeing t illegal to ride in public *Depending where you and your Ebike reside.*
My wife has one its a little under powered. NCM ebikes are really good ebikes i own a NCM Moscow 1.500.00 Canadian delivered Amazon lots of power evrn for offroading and trouble free
I am 6'2" and wondering if the RadCity Step-Thru 3 is a bike that could work for me. The specs state up to 6"0" only. The seat height max is 33", I have my regular pedal bike seat ay 39". The Rad Rover 4 seems more appropriate with a seat height of 37" but I like the Step-Thru style. Can anybody please give me some advise, thanks!
In British Columbia shops are selling ebikes for 7.500.00 and people are actually buying them 🤣 I have the NCM Moscow great bike same price lotsa miles on it no probs : )
it sits higher than it looks, I just put one together for my wife and was surprised as to the ride height. Handle bars are 45 inches high. seat goes up to 39 inches.

It wouldn't fit in a hatchback.very large and heavy. Don't take the front wheel off. Unless you're a bike mechanic.

The RadRover also has a step-thru style now too. It might be your best bet as it'll get you the closest to the current seat height you ride at.
