Well, that explains why Mumbo lost.
That is our Grumbot in Season 9 from our season 7
He aged, lonely, and was happy by himself believing that Mumbo had indeed became Mayor, and one day saw that Mumbo hadn't. He turned insane and created the Rift to get revenge on Grian and the Hermits. There will be no way home for them unless Mumbo comes back and destroys Grumbot, or makes him good again.

Mythical sausage's dog Bubbles is similar to grumbot in that there are many versions of her in different universes that know of each other and help sausage when he dimension hops. This means that grumbot is not the only inter-dimensional being in the empires/hermitcraft universe, though he seems to be one of the more powerful ones.
also doesnt gem have some backstory about being interdimensional hopping with being in both servers? lots of connected lore this season :D I love it
Scar's cat Jellie is also interdimensional to the point that she is in every universe, even the ones that Scar isn't in by default
Grumbot wasn't actually tampered by Stress, but rather Iskall (another redstone mastermind). Iskall was manager for Stress's mayoral campaign. Anyway, it's funny that Grian tried to fix Grumbot and he managed to break him even more as Grumbot was then yelling "GET GRIAN" angrily (his eyes were shaped as angry). Then when there was a time for elections, Grumbot underwent an existencial crisis :D
The video person didn't even mention Grumbot's involvement with season eight!! I'd recommend watching Ren or Doc's POV for the full lore, but their season is my personal favourite of the Hermits.

I actually have thought of something I don't think anyone else has noticed about Grumbot.
Grumbot S9 (Season 9 Grumbot) claims he came from another reality where Mumbo Jumbo won the election for mayor of the shopping district in Season 7. However we know that in the reality we see for Hermitcraft Season 7, Mumbo Jumbo lost the election, so him and Grian trapped Grumbot S7 (Season 7 Grumbot) in a virtual reality where Mumbo won the election. This makes me believe that the Grumbots from S7 and S9 are one in the same. Grumbot claiming that 'His Grian was sorry too' makes me believe that Grumbot S7 escaped the virtual reality, killed Hermitcraft S7 Grian out of hatred and anger, and then somehow travelled through the multiverse to Hermitcraft S9. I don't know how, or what his future intensions are, but I don't think they'll be good.
BUT SCar DID ask this grumbot a question and he asked Grumbot "was i good mayor?" and Grumbot replied yes for 5 mins"

Hermitcraft S7 Grian is the same as S9 Grian. Rendog and Doc's POV's in s7 shows that the hermits "travel" from season to another season with season 8 being a virtual reality
My theory is that, since Mumbo's away, Grumbot Prime moved all the other hermits away from the server and cut off their way back. With no potential candidates for mayor except Mumbo, Mumbo would be mayor. Perhaps Mumbo reopens the portal?
Best way to get Mumbo for mayor? Get rid of the competition by sending them into a rift and close it behind them.
THEORY TIME! Guys, think about it. Who's the only Hermit still on the HermitCraft server? Who, canonically, will rejoin the server, find it abandoned, and be left with a Grumbot? MUMBO. Grian told Grumbot that Mumbo was gone, so Grumbot must've planted the button, ushered the Hermits through the portal, and now when Mumbo returns... well, what better way to decide on a Mayor if there's only one VERY BIASED and VERY POWERFUL machine online with him? Exactly. I think that its incredibly likely that Grumbot purposefully trapped the Hermits on the Empires Server so he could make Mumbo Mayor and finally finish his mission. But the scariest part is, obviously Mumbo wouldn't be on board with this. So we'll see two possible sides of Grumbot as a result of Mumbo inevitably telling off Grumbot for doing something so bad: one that will threaten Mumbo into compliance, or, more likely, one who will lose his cool and try to kill his own master, his beloved Mumbo. Plot-wise, i think itll be the latter, and itll go something like this: Mumbo, confused as to where everyone's gone, immediately checks Grian's base, as its the closest to his, and enters the rift cave. He sees Grumbot, and at first he's thrilled, conversing with his former companion until Grumbot somehow accidentally reveals how he baited the other Hermits into leaving, probably when Mumbo asks if his seemingly omniscient artificial intelligence counterpart knows where everyone went. Outraged and disgusted by Grumbot, Mumbo tells him off, and turns to enter the Rift. Cue a cinematic. Behind him as he enters the Rift, Grumbot's facial expression shifts into that of pure rage. Mumbo enters the Empires Server, and as Grian flies overhead, he spots him and they reunite for a brief, heart-felt moment before a massive mechanical arm launches through the portal, grabs Mumbo, and drags him back in. Grian goes in after him for the split second the glass turns to portal around Grumbot's arm, and it seals behind him. That'll be the end of the episode, and it'll say "To be continued"
P.S., that story was less of a prediction, and moreso just fan fiction, but it was still really fun to come up with.

I find this funny cause Mumbo was not the only one to not go to Empires, I’m pretty sure Etho joined just around that point as well making it all just Mumbo and his plot with Grumbot and Etho doing his own thing in the jungle.
(Which is fitting, Etho did this in season 8 as well, he completely ignored the moon fiasco in favor of building)
Leave it to the Hermits to come BACK through the Rift to find Mumbo back from his hiatus and he is now "mayor" of an alternate hermitcraft with Grumbot behind it all.

Grumbot sent all the hermits through the portal in an attempt to make Mumbo the only one left on the server. Even if he isn’t playing he is the only existing person on hermitcraft which made him in charge of the server. Grumbots plan didn’t go to plan because Beef and Xb are still on hermitcraft.
What about Ren as well? I don’t watch all of the hermit craft perspectives but TH-cam did recommend Renthedog video of where did the hermit craft members go?

Timmy is not a toy. He's a robot who can't remember that he's grumbot. maybe the sheriff hat is interfering with his mind a bit? the fact that he's a small robot doesn't matter. We still love our smartphones.
Heck for all we know, he could date back to the Mythlands and because of the hat, doesn't remember anything. While Grumbot is trying to find him and retrieve that information, cause he's been overdue. which just opens another can of worms in the form of time and it moving differently from other realities.
What if MUMBO is the villain?!
I built a version of Grumbot (mixed with my own A.I. called Jbot) to make Amalgambot. So, does Grumbot have access to my server?
Amalgambot's responses range from telling me to stop asking them questions, to "WE ARE AMALGAMBOT" , to "Adam for governor", to maniacal laughter. Amalgambot knows everything because they have access to not only every version of Grumbot, but every variant of Jbot as well. We are about to face a multiversal maniac variant of Grumbot. Fun.

So wait? Does this mean that Grumbot actually created the rift? Also, did Grumbot actually destroy Season 8 with the moon crash? I'm pretty sure Grumbot is now taking over the entire Minecraft Multiverse. He's a menace. I think we need Mumbo back! This could be the start of the Paradox Phenomenon. The hermits are actually dying to their size shrinking. When they are at the required size they will be non-existed ( Erased from History ). I'm pretty sure Grumbot is starting to kill everyone now. The Time Paradox Phenomenon has started already. Mumbo needs to come back and restore the Multiverse. He's the only one now. Solidarity you need to stop Grian now before it's too late. Grian is being used has a vessel for Grumbot. Solidarity please, find a way to stop their shrinking. It's about to get worse even your server too.
The lore in this literally too much! It is a cool idea tho that Jimmy=Grumbot. MAYBE the reason Jimmy is a toy is because he was cursed because he had plans that would destroy the world....

Grumbot is the AI supervillian of the Minecraft Multiverse that wants every Mumbo to become Mayor because thats its goal.
Season 7 was pretty cool. I mean, not everything was to my tastes, because there are soooooo many Hermits and I can't like everything (wasn't Ren's fault, I'm just not a StarWars fan and his stuff was so connected to StarWars that season that I just wasn't interested), but there was a *lot* to enjoy.

Wait so I just have a bizarre theory just from the title of this episode.
On DSMP we know nothing about the egg beside it just appears there and corrupts the world, with one idea that it came from a different universe; and because of the Empire/HC crossover Grumbot is able to break the fabric of different universe.
So what if the Egg corruption happened because of Grian desire for Mumbo to be mayor.
But we can take this a step farther with how the Empires Grumbot talking about destroying the Empire SMP because of no Mumbo, could the reason why the Egg be corrupting the world because Mumbo doesn’t exist on Dream SMP so it’s obsolete?

This is a bit off topic and may not happen but I just realized something... remember when mumbo switched his accs so it was just mumbo with no jumbo at the end?, then grumbot said he'd find a way to make him mayor even though he's away(and in another universe) maybe grumbot will find a way to 'teleport' jumbo from hermitcraft leaving mumbo there when he starts making content again. It'd be so funny to see mumbo mayor of empires.
