- North Carolina is a waterfall hunter's paradise. We set off to see if the beautiful Turtleback Falls, above Rainbow Falls, was indeed a natural water slide in gorgeous Gorges State Park. This place is a perfect stop on a road trip through North Carolina. Located near the intersection of North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia, Gorges State Park features plunging waterfalls, rugged river gorges, and sheer rock faces. The park spans over 8,000 acres of temperate rainforest, hosts extraordinary biodiversity and features 26 waterfalls, the northern boundary of Lake Jocassee, and a portion of the 70-mile Foothills Trail.

Wow - that looks amazingly fun, & fairly safe? Did you put that yellow rope up yourselves to catch onto before getting pulled downriver? I also want to compliment you on your excellent gear. The rope was already there. Yeah we try to come prepared for these types of adventures. Having the right gear means that we can enjoy ourselves more.
What was the water temperature, and I love the doctors office background music. Both of you guys look re-energized.
Water temp was cold 🥶 af BUT we had 7mm wetsuits so it was all good. I've heard the water is cold even in the summer.
@@JesseStLouis I can't believe you did that in winter. The summer water temperature is in the mid 60s, so it's cool but not freezing.

Lots of people have died up there.
If the water is high you can easily gets carried downstream over rainbow.
