Just finished completing my vhs collection both edited and uncut versions. They look very impressive with the completed puzzles. Eventually I’ll be getting these single DVD editions very soon
Maaaan, the Pioneer singles had really cool and obviously carefully designed artwork. The later FUNi singles weren't bad either - they just used screengrabs, but carefully curated ones at least. Then it all went to sh1t with glossy ultra-modern and generic artwork starting with the Orange Bricks and leading up to the more recent Blu-Rays.
Most of us in the UK were introduced through the Ocean Dub and while I love Bruce Falconer's score in the Funimation dub, the Ocean dub was far superior overall especially some of the actors (mainly Brian Drummond as Vegeta)
I loved watching all these and Scott, Ian, and Pauline were also really good. I got my hands on the UK Cell and Buu arc now too and it's been awesome 👍

@Dsturb85 This is official, but I don't have a physical release of all of it. Just the first 53 (which is the Ocean dub) and the rest on a flash drive, which is actually known as the Westwood dub even though a good chunk of that cast returned from the Ocean Studios version.

I wish someday funimation can release all of the ocean dub on dvd and if they do that it will be a must buy! I have always preferred ocean dub rather than the funi one and wish they would release all of it!
Unfortunately, they can only release episodes 1 - 53 (1 - 67 unedited) and the first three movies. While the Ocean cast dubbed the Cell arc onwards (maybe Garlic Jr. too, I’m not sure), they were licensed by a different company, and only intended for the Canadian and UK markets. I believe Funimation also own exclusive distribution rights at this point, which puts the Westwood Ocean dub in a state of limbo.
@@AlexanderDiviFilius this is why we'll never hear a single clip of the Ocean dub of Kai because Funimation are Konami levels bad -_- bias and with a superiority complex. The only reason why they even considered Brian to voice Copy Vegeta is because he's a kickvic supporter -_-
@@umbrellaunderdog Drummond was hired for DBS years before KickVic was a thing though? I don’t think Funimation have the rights to Ocean Kai, I imagine the rights for that dub are in a similar situation to Kai:TFC’s dub a few years back, where it couldn’t be released until it had been aired on TV.
The uncut movies are easily the best dubbed Dragon Ball related content for the English market, pre Kai. The cast, voice acting, and script are all excellent. Far superior to the more modern Funi in-house dub of those movies in every respect.
@@SSJerry trust me, I decided to get the DVD singles (Continuing on with the Namek Saga DVDs and ending it with Kid Buu Saga) cause I got fed up with Funimation & Crunchyroll’s own messy cropped 16:9 remasters of Dragon Ball Z they rub me the wrong way.
@bigd90909 There was only ever the censored version with the Ocean Dub. The newer Funimation Texas cast eventually went back and introduced the uncensored version of the anime for the United States states.
They brang out the ocean dub version here in New Zealand uptill goku landed on namek then Instantly changed to funimation dub. And was wondering why all the voices changed all of a sudden lol.
I know I'm years too late but Peter Kelamis didn't voice Goku till the Trunks saga - imperfect Cell arch + the first 3 movies. Ian James Corlett voiced Goku before him and then once Peter left to pursue his comedy career Kirby Morrow took over to voice Goku for the rest of the series.
Peter did play Goku in Tree of Might when they redubbed it actually. His performance is in the 3 Movie Set I also unboxed, unlike the Rock the Dragon set which has the original Ocean dub of it with Ian.
I have the saiyan saga in vhs form but it cut out like the whole part of Gohan crying like a baby when he got lost and can u pls tell me if they are bootlegs or do all of ocean dub vhs cut out scenes

@@SSJerry the used VHS box sets aren't that much 33 dollars for the namek saga and 45 dollars for the Saiyan saga the DVD box sets of the sayain and namek saga are between 120 to 150 dollars used it's the new box sets that are more expensive
Even the kid Buu box set new is worth over 200 dollars now same with the fusion box set Majin Buu box set cell box set and so on if you find them new you're going to pay a hefty price for them some of the new DVD singles are pretty cheap though
So the movies are not in this set cause I've been looking for a rock a dragon DVD but idk what website to look for and at Amazon it's sold out and eBay has some but so dame expensive

@@SSJerry Thats not true because funimation kept using the rock the Dragon theme song until the end of the Frieza arc (even after the voice change). I have some of the funimation singles dvds (the one's funimation released from episode 54-276) and they do contain the rock the dragon theme song for the rest of the Frieza arc (unless you switch the language to Japanese then its cha-la-head-cha-la theme).

@@anthonyfernandez916 I think you're confused. The Vegeta theme with the piano is from Funimation's second cast, composed by Faulconer productions. That version is included in almost all Funimation releases except the Dragon Boxes and obviously Kai. This set in the video is original DBZ with Shuki Levi's score/music.

@@anthonyfernandez916 This set contains Funimation's original first cast and composers. The one you want with Vegeta's theme is in Funimation's second version. Not included here. For that version, buy the Z blu rays (that's isn't the only set that contains what you're looking for but it's definitely the best out of them). Hope that clears things up
I honestly don’t like the ocean dub, I mean they treated the show like it was a kids show. Dbz is supposed to be mature. But I guess Saban didn’t want that.
That's exactly what they did. And the fans of the Ocean cast know that, but the voices actors were already veterans and so talented so it's fun to rewatch sometimes. The newer Funimation cast has similar issues but I still like it too

@@SSJerry Thats not true because funimation kept using the rock the Dragon theme song until the end of the Frieza arc (even after the voice change). I have some of the funimation singles dvds (the one's funimation released from episode 54-276) and they do contain the rock the dragon theme song for the rest of the Frieza arc (unless you switch the language to Japanese then its cha-la-head-cha-la theme).

Even though I prefer the Funimation dub, this is a pretty cool DVD set.
technically the ocean dub is the funimation dub since they owned the series since 1995...its just not the texas in house cast its using canadien studios and foreign actors...

@@anthonyfernandez916 I think you're confused. The Vegeta theme with the piano is from Funimation's second cast, composed by Faulconer productions. That version is included in almost all Funimation releases except the Dragon Boxes and obviously Kai. This set in the video is original DBZ with Shuki Levi's score/music.

@@anthonyfernandez916 This set contains Funimation's original first cast and composers. The one you want with Vegeta's theme is in Funimation's second version. Not included here. For that version, buy the Z blu rays (that's isn't the only set that contains what you're looking for but it's definitely the best out of them). Hope that clears things up
I honestly don’t like the ocean dub, I mean they treated the show like it was a kids show. Dbz is supposed to be mature. But I guess Saban didn’t want that.
That's exactly what they did. And the fans of the Ocean cast know that, but the voices actors were already veterans and so talented so it's fun to rewatch sometimes. The newer Funimation cast has similar issues but I still like it too
