Thanks for the review! I'm a huge NB fan and bought these right away, used them on the First Half in Vancouver earlier this month... these shoes are fast! It was wet, no issues with the grip at all! I have bought three pairs of the Elite 3, I find the Elite 4 is very similar feel while you're running.
The RC Elite outsole reminds me of some older models (maybe 12-15 years ago) of the adidas adizero adios. I had the Ekiden model, the outsole looked exactly as the RC Elite outsole.
Great video Barry, I'm sticking to the AF3 as i absolutely love it, may even see if I can get a pair in the new colourway but I'd definitely consider these if I didn't have the AF3
Great review, I must admit that the New Balance SC elite V3 is my favourite at the moment. Surprising as its a soft 4 mm drop shoe. My only worry is that V4 new midsole is not durable.. I am so disappointed in my Vaporfly V2 that went flat at around 100 miles.. The only shoes I used to get the Pitta Bread flat feeling was the Hoka.. So I have a super comfy shoe.. Looking great.. Amazing shoe for the first 2 miles but then just flat.. I continue to run but it's really annoying..
I will report back on the wear. My shoes usually wear in exactly the same place. Typically they wear a bit and then level off. The Saucony Endorphin Pro 3 wears really well...
@i.p2088 I stop running in them at 200km so it’s usually not a problem. I do this so I can compare the shoes in almost peak condition. With non carbon plate shoes I got to 300km…
@@OldManRunner Very interesting article. So need to keep PEBAX shoes fresh. I tried today in the shop the New Balance SC elite V4. Feel like a light Alphafly. Absolutely brilliant. However.. With the midsole being so airy I don't know how well they will last..
Well spotted! I recorded the whole thing , spotted the error, thought I would put in an asterisk with Pacer over the video, decided against it, and sat there wondering if anyone would notice...now I know!
Very interesting Barry, it's so interesting to see what shoe you're gonna come up with next and this one is certainly a good looking shoe too!! Gosh so many people loved the previous versions as well, is that why you wanted to give this one a whirl?? Will be very interested to see how you get on with it!!
I saw this one on the radar and wanted to see the changes from the v1. There are so many different reasons to pick a shoe but mostly for me its curiosity. The timing also matters, if two are released at the same time I usually just get one and maybe the other on its next release...have another shoe on the horizon and waiting to order it when it goes live...ideally if I would get a shoe about a month apart from another...
@@OldManRunner Well, they kept making relatively big changes in each version between v1 and v4. I have the SC Elite v2 and like them as a long run shoe. I guess with full PEBA foam in this version they are trying to bridge the gap in performance.
This SC Elite v4 is now pure PEBA so foam is supposed to give back a bit more. I saw these at my local running shoe store. At $250 I think they are more reasonable shoes than even heavier HOKA Cielo X1 (heaviest and more expensive). There is also SC Trainer v3 coming which will be having PEBA/EVA blend like Rebel v4 (only 20% PEBA).
Nike had a Valentines discount on their app. I checked and I could get 25% off a Vaporfly 3. Which as a great deal. I imagine they will repeat the discount, as they do several times a year...

I haven't ried the 2 or 3, but very happy with the v4

Cheers Martin...going to spend the next week testing and comparing the two of them...

@@i.p2088 I found this article interesting on foam life:

I'm still old school with the green RC Elite v1. Once they reach EOL, I'll upgrade to the v4. BTW, Emily ran in the Pacer. Cheers

@OldManRunner No worries, it was a very good review. 👌

@@TolunayOrkun Looks like they have gone all out on this one, though the weight is a little surprising

I nearly bought the Cielo to see what they were like. But lots of carbon plate shoes released close together knocked that on the head…
i have alpha fly 3 should i continue to run event for 1600 meter or shall i purchase the NB elite V4? for soil surface ground?
I just ran a 5k on mixed surfaces. Grassland and road mixed. Ran in the Alphafly 3 which I would pick of these two
Just too expensive for me £260.......no chance ❤️✌️
