Why I love the weeknd is the fact that he sounds better live than in the studio and he doesn't use autotune. This guy is just awesome, his lyrics, his mvs, his vocals are all phenomenal.
I’m thinking heartless and blinding lights were dreams as in after hours he says I almost died in my dream again and due to the music videos for heartless and blinding lights it looks like that. Therefore I think that, because of the album order so far, up until after hours it’s gonna be that whole vibe and then with after hours you have the real Abel and this will probably be the last song on the album with the less heartless vibe
Even in Heartless, halfway through, he is showing reflection and regret. But so many get caught up with the opening lyrics that they fail to pay attention to the rest.

I can't say that I didn't love songs like Heartless, Starboy, Reminder etc in which The Weeknd shows a Hollywood lifestyle, but those chill emotional songs are in a good place in our hearts.
What I like about this review is that it reminds me of the progression of albums of John Legend as well. If you go back and listen to early Legend, it starts out the same way, where there was not a lot of stake in a relationship, but then the last couple of albums that I heard seems to show that wisdom that is gained in love and life after a few broken hearts, to a point where we now hear that love that he has in his current marriage.
This I feel like the 4 singles of this album are almost a summary of what to come on this album and what he has gone through over the past year. He and Bella parted ways, and he blames it on being Heartless. He is clearly Blinded by the Lights of the money, fame, sex, drugs. Then it finally hits him, and after these hours of being sad and distraught, he begins to realize the mistakes he made along the way, missing every ounce of the relationship he once had with Bella. But he held onto those moments too long and for so much that they returned back together but only on those feelings. But they begin to realize what issues they have caused themselves, and the both realize they need to let go. And Abel will eventually tell Bella that they need to let these feelings go and truly not be scared to live once again. To feel free from what was previously restricting them. This possible final single, seems to me like it is a perfect way to end his marketing for this album. I am beyond excited for this album and think this has potential to be Abel’s magnum opus.
I’m ashamed to admit that I’ve slept on The Weekend. I subscribed because of TOP and I am impressed by how you break down and dissect their music but I also love how your channel has been the impetus for me to discover other great artists. Keep up the great vids (two in one day 🙌)
