She wasn't just asleep, she was incoherent and out of it. Why does anyone think it's okay to drive like that!

    • @0Onyx13
      @0Onyx13 ปีที่แล้ว +77

I've heard something really good, if someone is trying to leave somewhere being clearly drunk and trying to drive, to stop them, they'll argue that they're good, that they'll be careful etc, and that "you don't have to worry about me", and at that point you reply "I'm not worried at all about you cause if you smash into a tree and die you deserve it, I'm worried about the innocent people who chose not to drink cause they were driving and that you may end up killing. The one time I heard this person recalling the event, he said that the drunk friend in question went like "shiiit, I didn't think about that, yeah then I guess I'll just pass out on the couch here". Good to keep in mind.
Secondary thing, as much as I hate drunk drivers, I'm always low-key impressed, she's so passed out that she doesn't even react to the light, yet she's able to stay on the road??? If I was that level of drunk I wouldn't even be able to find my car, and let's say I find it, the second I'm on the seat I fall asleep. But again let's say I don't, I for sure wouldn't be able to even put it in drive, I'd probably activate the windshield and ac and maybe drive 5cm before ramming against a flower bed or something. I don't know cause I've never even remotely attempted it, since I'm not selfish garbage, but yeah, no way I'd be so neatly in the middle of the lane.

I’m a former EMT. DUI drivers infuriate me. I’ve seen the devastation that they leave behind-some of those calls will never leave my mind. IMO, people who drive drunk and are caught shouldn’t just have their driver’s license suspended-they should have their vehicles confiscated, because so many of them just keep driving even after that license gets suspended, and it’s not enough of a deterrent to prevent this type of crap.

I completely agree. The main reason I want my driver's license is so I can be a designated driver for my friends (current and future). I don't think I could handle one of my friends causing that kind of destruction and harm.

ICU nurse here. Taken care of so many people hit by drunk drivers, often the drivers get off with just a couple cuts and bruises and get discharged while the other person is fighting for their life. They should have to bring them in and SEE the damage they did. This sentence infuriates me. She should have gotten a much more serious sentence.

I have a friend who lost her 2 year old grandson because a drunk neighbour hit him twice on her front lawn. He died in his 16 year old uncle's arms. I have no time for people like her.
My brother has at least two DUIs and he knows my opinion about it. His wife has one of those breathalyzers that has to blow 0 in order to turn it on. Neither of them think it is a big deal. They have driven with their kid in the car.
They haven't gotten in very much trouble at all. They have lost their license for short periods of time. If you go into rehab, you will get even less time suspended. If you have a couple years between DUIs, you will be treated like it is your first offence.

When I was 19 and got an MIP (Minor I'm Possession) I had to do some volunteer work at a local care center for folks who needed assisted living. These were people who couldn't care for themselves due to severe learning disabilities, brain damage, and the like. There was one gentleman who was a wheelchair user permanently, and he was sweet as beans and had a lil crush on me 😅 even introduced his dad to me, which was super sweet 😊
Well, he was there bc he was out at a party with some friends years prior. He didn't have brain damage then, and he had no history of problems in school or being disabled in any fashion, mental or otherwise. But he was wasted, and didn't wanna drive but also didn't wanna stay in the house. The reason was so innocuous that he couldn't even remember why. He just remembered thinking sleeping in his car was safer than driving. And arguably, it could be. But another drunk driver rammed right into his back seet, where he was sleeping. It completely crushed his skull, but he lived! And he was always the most kind, warm individual when I was volunteering there.
He tried his best to be safe and ANOTHER person who couldn't think to do the same changed his life forever. Don't drink and drive, please. The world is begging you.

In the UK you have to breathe test someone at the side of the road when stopped and back at the station, we don't do the sobriety test things with the finger or stand on one foot stuff, you can pass them over the limit still. Otherwise it can be thrown out of court no matter how far above the limit they were. One of my close friends got away with drink driving for this very reason despite blowing WAY over the limit at the station they didn't test him at the side of the road, even he said it's stupid and that he was clearly in the wrong and should have been punished.

I work at an escape room and recently had a really fun group of people that seemed mildly intoxicated at first. When it came to explaining the rules (we have a fun way of doing it which takes some time to get through (about 5 minutes)), I don't know what happened but one of the drunk ladies got so much worse. She would interrupt me every couple seconds to say something whack that sounded like she was high on top of being drunk. She would constantly ask if she could take pictures and videos in the room (which for an escape room is 98% of the time a big no-no, unless it doesn't show puzzles. But even then). The longer the night went on, the worse they got (which I thought would have the opposite effect, like I gave them water and they went to the bathroom about 4 times so I figured it'd be out of their system). Without going into too much detail, we have a container with a key inside. I had to walk them through every single puzzle anyway and they couldn't figure out how to just unscrew the top. I said "people are known to stash stuff in there" and drunk goon #1 read it aloud and reads "slam" or "smash" instead of stash. Goony #2 rears back her arm and slams our container onto the ground. They left sticky lollipops on counters and everything a mess. I'm fine if you come in a little intoxicated and have a good time, but don't get smashed in public please 💀

US laws are weird. If that happened in our country, her behaviour would be considered Disobedience to Public Authority, which is a punishable crime. It's a light offense, but still punishable nonetheless. Charging somebody 1k and subjecting them to community service will NOT help them learn their lesson.

This is kind of scary to watch. I know she is actually drunk but I've known diabetics who've had things happen like this and the cops automatically assumed they were drunk but were in a medical emergency. At some point you'd need to assess for a medical emergency. (In the car specifically, not the afters)

I agree because even if she was drunk, she could have alcohol poisoning as well which is a medical emergency.

I used to be friends with a girl at my local bar and she would always get beers "to go" from my friend who was the bartender. He'd put them in a clear soda cup (already kinda questionable) and cover the straw hole with a sticker to prove it was "sealed." One day, she got three of them to go (after already having several there) and I said "make sure you get home before you open those." She just looked at me and said "meh" before popping the lid off and chugging one. I was stunned and asked her if she actually drinks those *while* she drives, to which she responded "yes" without any sort of emotion or care in her voice. I immediately told the bartender after she left and once he found out, she got in a lot of trouble with the bar. Eventually, we stopped seeing her and I found out she was banned from it for constantly begging for free drinks and threatening one of the employees in the parking lot with a knife demanding to know who "ratted her out" for her drinking and driving. I can't believe people think behavior like that is OK or safe.

In most states if you actually refuse to take a breathalyzer you automatically go to jail, do not pass go and do not collect $200 lol, more like you’ll owe at minimum $200 in fines and tickets lol. Have a great upcoming month everyone, Namaste.

Every Friday I do bed bug treatments in a housing building for very low to no income (the place is a lost cause and just needs to be demolished, its got so many problems) and I hadn't seen one guy who I chatted with a few times.
I asked one of the security guards who help me get into units and found out the guy had been shot 8 times by the local police.
Apparently the officers claimed the guy had a knife, but the head security guard has seen the bodycam footage that was released. The guy had no knife, showed no signs of aggression. He was just chatting with the officers and they only opened fire when he turned towards one to answer a question. They fired at him 12 times at about arms length and hit him 8 times.
That was why I didn't see the guy for around a month. Because a group of police murdered him in cold blood. I'll hazard a guess that its because he wasn't white like the bastards in blue.
