I lost my Nokia one night when I was drinking...i told my roommate to call my phone. The mud puddle in the driveway suddenly looked like the cup of water in Jurrasic Park...YUP...the phone was in the mud puddle and still working after a night underwater! I put it in a bag of rice just to be safe.

Fun other dumb criminal stories: a dude broke down the glass part of a door like in the first clip from here, but to exit, clearly drunk and/or high, he broke the other one. A guy wrapped his face in duct tape as a "mask" but was beaten up pretty bad before bailing (or maybe he didn't bail at all, iirc, but maybe he managed to escape for like 10 minutes), so the person with a bloody face wrapped up in duct tape was not hard to spot. Best for last: in Italy a thief broke into a supermarket during the night but found out the registers were empty (jee, did he really think they keep cash in there overnight??) and to not want to go away empty handed he grabbed a big ass wheel of Parmiggiano cheese, which is quite expensive, but since the alarm started ringing when he broke in, and he was trying to hastily go away, with the worrying of the police coming, I think he actually heard sirens at one point, and not being in good shape, trying to carry a lot of cheese, he suffered from a heart attack and collapsed on the sidewalk, he was promptly arrested and brought to the hospital, where he recovered, but he still was going to jail having robbed no money, a wheel of cheese he had to drop, and getting himself a heart attack that landed him in hospital. What a genius.

When traveling with a group of friends in Fiji we had a bunch of stuff stolen from us, including a digital camera. The camera & some other stuff were found in a nearby field. The thieves had helpfully taken photos of themselves with the camera so they were tracked down & we got all our stuff back
Id love to see yall react to some old school Dog the Bounty Hunter or Billy the Exterminator. Both of those shows are so over the top their hilarious! Not to mention the 90's slim sunglasses 🤣

Funny story about old phones, my dad was one of the first people to ever have unlimited everything bc it was worth his company phone. When I got my first phone, I racked up a big bill in texts, so my dad gave me his phone bc he didn't work for that company anymore, but he kept paying the bill so he never lost the unlimited plan and everyone at school was so confused how I never had to pay for texting lol. It was great.
