A plus of wool pads is that you can work the compounds more than with a microfiber pad, because it doesn’t get as hot as a Microfiber. Plus, no more hazing with wool. My number one pad is Microfiber but for a one step I would take a wool pad.
Basically what Jason is trying to say is that microfiber used right is still the go to pad when it comes to correction, but it has to be used right! After every pass/cycle clean your pad, blow it out with compressed air because microfiber holds the residue much more then foam or wool and if the microfiber isn’t cleaned after every pass your going to lose your cutting ability and get that DA haze... make sure you swap out your pads every 2-3 panels as well because even tho cleaning the pad (blowing it out with compressed air) it’s still not going to remove everything so swapping the pad for a new microfiber pad will prevent that issue. Also keep in mind just because you swap the pads out doesn’t mean your pad you swapped out is done for and trash it just means it needs to be clean properly with a pad cleaner and hot water and left to dry to remove all the residue, you will know when to trash the microfiber pad when your see cracking in the foam part of the pad, then it’s time to trash that pad.
Paint Correction God I remember Jason Killmer saying to keep the mf pad on so you can use the remaining polishes to your advantage. Otherwise you’ll have to re-prime every new mf pad and begin the process over again which would be counter intuitive.
MF pads are alot more abrasive than Wool pads, which explains that. I don't get why it even matters, you are going to follow it with a polish afterwards (if you're doing it "right" (what's right?)), and that should have absolutely no problem in removing any haze or micro-marring.
Their original microfiber pads were fantastic. With the cut level of Zephir, combined with the blue mf pad, it's hard to get more than two passes before it clogs up. Very fast cut. Because of this, the perception is that zephir doesn't cut well, unfortunately.. The original yellow pads were great with Keramik for high gloss one stepping. The new pads are nice too, overall I find they finish better, but cut less. Takes a little more pressure to get the maximum effect. Very similar to Meguiar's, but I much prefer the new Rupes to the Megs.
Awesome video with good information. I just purchased a few pads yesterday and I was deciding between microfiber and wool I'm glad I decided with wool because it's perfect for my application. On another note, I don't know much of anything about video editing, but is it possible to have three Mics connected to the camera so you can have one on you Matt? Sometimes it's hard to hear what you're saying and what you're asking and you ask really good questions
Dear sir, very informative video. Please let me ask you, i want to try use those new yellow wool pads, can i use then with AIO products, or ONE step kind of compounds??? It will produce detter results in.less polishing time compare to traditional foam pads? And let me ask you, the way.of using those pads is such as in the rotary with fast arm speeds, or we sould use those pads such as tradditional foam.pads...1inch per second/ 2x2 section????

Nick M a pad should only be primed when first bring out that pad that your going to work with.
If you want maximum quality results, you have to use one pad for each panel. Clean the pads after each pass.
hey matty , year after this is posted ( roughly ) i am still using your work as a reference and benchmark :)
as always , keep them coming :)
I love geeking out on this stuff!
Excellent video. Excellent questions and answer. You the man matt.
Thanks man!
The blue wool cutting pad works surprisingly well.
Most are saying that the Rupes wool pads finish better than MF on a DA.

Thanks brother!

You can, but it requires a level of complication I'm unqualified to handle.
Obsessed Garage haha oh ok. Just wondering. I'm lazy when in comes to video editing
How do you clean the wool pads at the end of the day? I don't think I've heard that question posed/answered.
Love it! Thank you guys so much!!!!!
Thank you for asking about the curingtime, been asking this question to every bodyshop in town and nobody knows what the hell im talking about 😂
Yeah, it seems that it one of those old rumors that keeps going. Gassing off time is always a hot topic that I never really understood or believed.
Hey Matt, kind of off topic, but how is the spray bottle solution coming along, pretty interested in the package.
It's not. I can't find anything acceptable. I'm going to have to have it made.
Thanks so much perfect lesson
can I use the wool big foot med. cutt pad with maguire D300 compound

You can try it, but it may leave some haze. That depends on the paint and the polish. You use these like a traditional foam or microfiber pad.
@@ObsessedGarage ok sir i will do.as you adviced to.me. Thanks for your reaponce, keep up the great job!!!
Kind reegards
