Maestro Alagna's interpretation of this aria always and absolutely takes my breath away. I actually once thought, no it cannot be so, and I began listening to every other version I could find. While some were very very good, I return always and listen again, and once again my lungs fill, my heart swells and I am breathless.

This is from his Berlioz album, 2002. He has said that Berlioz is his favorite composer. This aria is my favorite.

je viens d'écouter la version d'Alain Vanzo qui chante merveilleusement bien cette aria avec une voix de ténor "à la française" , mais j'aime beaucoup la version d'Alagna qui est plus virile ! les 2 versions sont tout aussi légitimes et on peut écouter l'une ou l'autre selon notre envie du jour !!!
