Your slow and detailed voicing plus closeups of your build is and would have been something I appreciate/ed. I know it’s not a tutorial but it’s like being with a friend going through the trial and errors of a project, ie. The screw caps on the upper shower rail. Do enjoy 😉 you throwing in technical terms for some items 😆 Flappy Thing, Silver Thing 😆. 🤣 Especially enjoyed the role play with women’s voice 🤣🤣 for a new Silver Thing 🤣🤣. So grateful for the intro, had to watch it at least 5 times before watching the rest of the video, because watching it multiple times as the outro in the last one 😘

    Pure concentration at 12:18!
    Top tips.
    1. Put cardboard/dust sheet or similar in the shower tray to prevent marks, damage or things ending up down the waste (for those who have a more open type outlet).
    2. Masking tape over silicone before drilling.
    3. Mask the area where the uprights go, makes it easy to mark up fixings without borrowing the eyeliner, and saves the metal struts from marking the tiles.
    4. Wear gloves if you have to use any force when piecing things together, those frames are razor sharp.

Great video - job well done. I liked your little helpers. The silver button incident was funny - in hindsight I guess for you. PS: Thank you for explaining that silicone only goes on the outside of showers and the reason why. It is a pet peeve of mine seeing mouldy silicone inside showers! 👍😀

Thank you for sharing this video. It's the best Fitting a Shower Enclosure demo on you Tube, Delightful young helpers too. The mystery of the missing clip. Did it fall into your back pocket... but "it was there all the time" brilliant. "Daddy you've got pockets"... I recall my brother saying as you mention don't put the sealant inside. But, before I finally do mine which is a job that should have been done months ago. I'll share the video with my brother in case he notices anything I might have missed. Might wait for him to visit and assemble and fit it together.

What screws did you use for the handles? I'm fitting a quadrant shower that looks identical but theres only 30mm screws left for the handles that look way to long?

What did it say regarding sealing the frame to the tray and rails, there’s many different thoughts on it as to stop Leakes do you seal the out side or both with silicone, great video easy explanation by you thanks..

I think your throw away comment about getting a quadrant over a rectangular frame may come back to haunt you. We bought a house with a similar shower enclosure in a wet room. The unit is now about 10 years old and I am about to pull it out and install rectangular unit. Although it is the least used unit in the house the rollers are failing and starting to stick and am unable to get replacements, it is a nightmare to keep clean etc. One thing that I did add - Not sure if these are available in the UK - was a shower dome ( tinyurl.com/y53mj7xd ) to all our units and they are brilliant at keeping the humidity in the unit. Thanks for the videos, I never miss them. p.s. have lost a couple of screw caps down the drain that have randomly fallen off!

Can I just check what you said about only sealing on the outside. I’ve not fitted an enclosure myself but every one we’ve had fitted has also been sealed on the inside. Is only sealing the outside definitely the way to go (your reason for doing so sound logical) or are there 2 schools of thought?

    • @TheRestorationCouple

It’s the only way I’ve read or seen it recommended. I can see the reason people may think internal is best though.
