I met Numan on his 1998, 2001, and 2015 tours...the way he talks to you in that unassuming, chill, low key humorous way is EXACTLY the same way this interview is.!
A very genuine person in the music business. Answers questions, without trying deflect the question, or make himself look better with the response. Vastly, vastly, underrated, for reasons beyond why, maybe the next few years will be Gary's', and they will be thoroughly deserved.
Gary you are so humble, but you may have been one of the last to find it but you were the only one to master it and make it something that no one else ever could! That's why we love you so much keep rocking.
I just went and saw Gary Numan here in Colorado recently and he put on a great show. I can't help but feel some of his 90's industrial type sound has become cohesive and really solidified.
I love the way Numan's evolved from the cold, android vibe of his earlier days into this really warm, genuine and humble guy while still delivering some top notch dark electronic music (I hate using the term 'industrial').
Gary are you ok from the Cleveland accident?? My family was so worried we were actually going to go to the concert and meet you but the accident happened, I prayed and prayed for that man, he’s always in my prayers
I absolutely adore Gary. He is an astounding artist ... I was recently at a show in Denver a month back HOLY SHIT, he put on one of the best shows I've ever seen in my life! Live long and prosper Gary Numan💜
He's just so LIKEABLE. He and his wife are definitely on the same page as me about the future of the planet. Funny though, in other interviews he seems very excited and hopeful about the future.
My own opinion (and i know we all cant stay the same) but i first heard you in 79/80........to me you were better as an android.......now (musical presence) its like youre a robot. But hey thats my own opinion. My oldest son has aspergers.....you Sir are a creative influence to those...Awesome youre music (old and new) is still holding.
Get rid of us. So the world will be better for whom? Are you actually suggesting that the inanimate Rock that is our planet is more important than sentient life? How could that even be? Importance is a human construct.
its actually a hairpiece that is glued on. they shave the top of the head like a monks and measure and apply the hairpiece. gary lost his hair back in the 80s
Darren Taylor gary was losing his hair in his 20s he had a hair transplant but it wasn't successful and he wanted density. So he ended up wearing a wig. It's too big to be a hairpiece it's a wig. There no hair line and it's still false at the back so it's a full lace wig. Don't get me wrong he's a legend but it is a wig.
I hate interviews with musicians cos they mostly full of shit, this been the most honest and entertaining and SUCH a nice guy, if only the rest of the music industry could be like Gary
I believe the song relates to an incident where he was being attacked and sought refuge in his car. "I was in traffic in London once and had a problem with some people in front. They tried to beat me up and get me out of the car. I locked the doors and eventually drove up on the pavement and got away from them. It's kind of to do with that. It explains how you can feel safe inside a car in the modern world... When you're in it, your whole mentality is different... It's like your own little personal empire with four wheels on it.”
What about an Asian leg? I love music and Megadeth, GnR, Judas P will play in Indonesia but how about Gary, K.J., Depeche? Singapore, Japan, Aust, Hong Kong and so on. Masses of followers.
but you were gary . i loved the human league . dalek i love you . but you pushed it . and they all followed . at 12 my parents let me go to birmingham to see the touring principle . the same year siouxsie and the banshees . with the human league as support . then my sister a few weeks ago said they just gave up and stopped arguing with you because they knew you would do it anyway

It’s nice to see a rock n roll star like Gary being so down to earth and honest about his career that he is showing his human side being humble.
Great interview - Gary is totally on top of his game at the moment. I love his new album savage and his previous album Splinter!
Such a humble dude..I would love to just chill by my pond and have a chat with Gary...sigh.... someday...lol.
Gary you are so humble, but you may have been one of the last to find it but you were the only one to master it and make it something that no one else ever could! That's why we love you so much keep rocking.
Such a down to earth, humble, bloke. I wish I could get hold of the videos of when he still lived in England, fans camping in his garden etc.
"It's a bit harsh ... when you've got kids" :-)
I love the way Gary is so humble and when he gets giggles

6:52 that laugh. So pure.
2:16 "Get rid of us" brutal, but I agree :) Great interview!
I love the way Numan's evolved from the cold, android vibe of his earlier days into this really warm, genuine and humble guy while still delivering some top notch dark electronic music (I hate using the term 'industrial').
Loveley laugh
*Very humble man*
Gary are you ok from the Cleveland accident?? My family was so worried we were actually going to go to the concert and meet you but the accident happened, I prayed and prayed for that man, he’s always in my prayers
And this is precisely why I adore this guy so much.
Wig?
@@SullenMorbius "wig?"
It seems all you talk about on Gary Numan videos is his hair. You're very odd.
@@morningcoffeecat2271 it's beautiful
"Get rid of us." Yup.

Gary has been an inspiration, a big influence, and still is.

To hear Gary Numan describing discovering a synth is my favourite thing
Never been a huge fan, but have to say he seems such a nice guy, like really nice ! ... humble, honest, not at all full of himself, rare nowadays.

Brilliant interview and some incredible answers
What a nice friendly modest man...really like him!
Gary wouldn't say anything to the aliens because he would be 'praying to the aliens'. ;-)
Superb, down to earth interview.
inspiration
I'll vote him in as our global representative for first contact....
New tour was excellent come back to seattle gary !

Interesting take and I totally agree with him. His new album Savage is the best since Telekon.
I agree about getting rid of us'only problem is we'll take the rest of the Animal Kingdom with us.
Honest compromise is destroy any one with a womb
Get rid of us. So the world will be better for whom? Are you actually suggesting that the inanimate Rock that is our planet is more important than sentient life? How could that even be? Importance is a human construct.

Kutta Kyte what jealous over a wig. Come on! He's awesome guy but he's wig looks silly.
It's a transplant isn't it?

My name is ruin!
that hair for a man his age is incredible!! oh wait...
Human time is only relevant to us.
Cars... What was you actually thinking about when you wrote it..
I believe the song relates to an incident where he was being attacked and sought refuge in his car.
"I was in traffic in London once and had a problem with some people in front. They tried to beat me up and get me out of the car. I still listen to cars till this day!!. I love those synthesizers !!!
the 'get rid of us' answer was somewhat disturbing.
What about an Asian leg? I love music and Megadeth, GnR, Judas P will play in Indonesia but how about Gary, K.J., Depeche? Singapore, Japan, Aust, Hong Kong and so on. Masses of followers.
GHOST NATION,👻!
Why does he wear that hat?
syrup of shame
Damn, that's one hell of a wig.
I really like Numan, and I hate to chuckle about it, but these wig comments are killing me!! LOL!
Did he have his hair piece made on the planet zork where you go outside and look the other way. You wouldn't believe the things they do!!!
Ya,....I went there in x.l.5.😂
Mr Webb would say to the Aliens.....don't listen to The Fury, avoid 'Strange Charm and for the love of God don't go near Metal Rhythm!
Alles electric waschmachines licht s

Gulp !! The hair!!
Tony J yours ain’t much better
I think he has nice hair. I think it is a transplant. Could do with a little trim. x
I'm pretty sure hes wearing a wig. When he made the "cars" video he was going bald
Samantha Gonzalez hair transplant years ago!
"notorious for hits such as" ? I don't think you know what the word 'notorious' means. Famous, yes...
Nice wig Gary HAHAHAHAHA
A musician lecturing us on the ecosystem while wearing a hairpiece 😂
Grow up Gary, Aliens? Really?
Perhaps if he didn't fly planes and drive big cars the environment would be a lot better. Hypocrite.
