I actually love the tan legs on the table, very modern. Also, I love the size of the rug, it gives the room a book cafe feel. If the rug was larger, I think it may make the bookcases look too small.
Am I the only one who loves the tan legs on the table. They actual ground the entire space, which is unusual because black is the normal color to ground a space. Beautiful space!💕

Beautiful Nikki! Regarding the rug, you could get a larger rug and layer your current rug on top. You could also get a floor lamp which is a space saver and awesome sectional companion!
Totally agree with Danielle, I was going to suggest layering with a larger rug…it’s a designer’s trick and works every time.

I love the scale and texture of the rug. If it were larger, it would look like an ordinary rug and take away from the sofas. It looks like a statement rug now.
I love this space. It looks beautiful. As for the rug, I understand your concern regarding the size however I never even noticed it. While you could go larger, from the video, it does not appear too small. Actually, the dark floors bring out the dark bookshelves so it just looks nice. Also, I'd be inclined to not paint the legs on the coffee table. In the video, the legs appear to match the file folders on the bottom row of the bookshelf. Perhaps in real life, it may look different but from the video, it looks nice. I love that you have your photos albums in your home. Mine are in the garage and it's nice that you have your memorabilia in the room instead of tucked away.

I love the natural color of the legs on the table. It very unique and different and they blend with the sofa. I have that same picture.The rug is nice but a bigger one would look nicer. Love the room.

It came out so beautiful! As for the rug, I think the size depends on what you want it for. Like a big rug would be perfect for the room size but it would get dirty with time because of stepping on it when you sit on the sofa. In my opinion, I would leave it like that. It looks cute! ❤❤❤❤
I'm with you. I like real photos in photo albums too.
I like the size of the rug now, because the dark floor showing on each side "frames" the table-and-rug area while also framing the seating areas; also because the dark floor showing looks cohesive with the dark shelves and visually pulls the shelves and their contents into the room, into the relaxation area. I would consider a bigger rug only for added warmth if your feet feel cold during winter and/or if the smaller one's edges are a tripping hazard for people who can't pick up their feet (which for most people would not be a problem). All in all, the room is very nice, a great success.

Usually the feet of the furniture should be on the rug. Otherwise it makes the space look smaller if only the table is on the rug.

You are so meticulous at home design that I wish I could afford to have you come into my dilapidated home and have free design reign. God keep blessing you and your family....your work is perfect.
I like the colors of your room, because they similar to the ones we use at home. Mostly we have white furniture, maybe combined with a wooden or silver metall counter top. But a few pieces of chocolate brown furniture are scattered throughout. Otherwise all other natural colors plus green (i.e. plants). That tree picture of yours reminds me of our tree picture. Handpainted by an artist bought at the Historic Charleston City Market, picturing the Angel Oak Tree.😍 I think the rug needs to be large enough to fit right under the front legs of the sofas, something to do with the scale of a room. Having the correct scale, lamps/rugs etc., has been an issue at times for me as well.
Okay you asked what i thought! Amazing in love with gray, a little toward darker but lightened by ivory. don't you dare get a bigger table maybe add locking wheels. Wow truly am floored everytime.

Beautifully done! I think if you went with a larger rug it would actually make the room appear larger. The pros always say go with the largest size rug that fits your space. What’s on the wall that’s behind where you were filming? Does Mike have a desk?

Your room is beautifully done, but a larger rug will make the room much larger. The smaller rug shrinks the room. At least two legs of the sofa position should be one the rug.
It's a very beautiful room! I think thw rug is very small! If you choose a bigger rug the room will look bigger! Also I don't like the legs you put at the table at all! It's a nice table but the legs are a big no for me! I love the books and the whole style!
My one regret, Nikki, I left Charleston this past January, never had the chance to be able to meet you in person.
It’s absolutely gorgeous in fact I am thinking of turning my spare bedroom into a den like this - it is a very very small room but this has made my mind up I am going to do it! Only thing is I have a big wardrobe which I don’t really want to part with lol but I will either try and work round it or bite the bullet and donate or sell it! Xo
I wonder what does she do with all of the furnishings, accessories, and all the individual items she bought for the office? It’s a lot of money invested to do a room from top to bottom then change to another look.
You can always design your own book covers to match and graphic designer and printer do that for you. That way you can get any book you want as well as work with already exhisting books that you might have.
