    Thanks for this great guide it's definitely still applicable in 2019. One thing regarding multiple clicks on the modules after warp/jump. You gotta be very careful with it. You don't want to activate your cloak or mwd/ab and because you thought it didn't work you quickly click it again and it registered as deactivate. Been there done that.

    Thanks, I had to look up how drag bubbles work though. Maybe I missed that part. Also the 4th tool for awareness is number of ships destroyed in the map. It can help you avoid some gate camps.

    In low-sec, all you need is a Cloaking Device. Warp and instantly cloak. There's no bubbles. Ships like a Bomber, Heavy Assault ship (HAC), T3, Scanner ship, Black Ops can fit Cloak.
    Nullsec is harder. Interdict nullifier is an option on a T3 but that kills DPS or Tank if you plan to do any PVE. The longer you spend time in a site, the riskier.
    If I get caught at the gate warping in, I usually pick out a celestial, approach it, MWD or AB and at same time cloak. Usually that takes me out of the bubble and I can freely warp where ever I want. I never crash the gate because I warped into that system for a reason. I'm coming thru! Warping back out does not help me in anyway. Just means I have to warp back in AGAIN. And now campers are more ready for it, prolly know what I fly etc. Gatecamps are boring and ppl aren't super-sharp all the time. You can use that. If no ones been thru that gate for 10-15 mins, campers won't be sharp. They might take that extra second to try an lock you down. That is all you need.
    Another thing is when you know a gate is bubbled and camped. You can warp to bookmark (200km away in my case) you have on that gate and slowboat to the gate cloaked. Takes a long time but I had to do it once. Test Alliance (IIRC) were gatecamping hisec gate for hours.
    I slowboated towards the gate with 2 cloaky ships. I noticed they did not circle the gate with frigates on the underside. So that was my approach. Took me 45 minutes, entered gate from the underside and was on my merry way to hisec. Local Chat was never boring during that 45 min. Of course, I never wrote a word in Local. Let em think you are AFK, Docked or whatever.

    These videos you are making are just awesome. So I started this game when it first came out. Ive always missed the nostalgia of the first frantic year of the game with everyone racing to get capital ships. I miss the T1 fights. It got to the point where if you didn't have a 22 million SP character then the young starter corps would barely look at you as pod you and laugh. I hated it but still loved the game. I got to play with Sean "Vilerat" Smith and was even around to see the whole BoB debacle unfold and jita turned into a massive party where no one killed anyone for a day. However it wasn't long after that the conversion from the old system to the new system (where you can walk around) messed up my character. I had like 60 million sp or something like that (was trying to get my dreadnought skills up to par) got all locked up (would crash the game when I tried to load the toon) and CCP basically told me to go fuck myself and so I quit.
    Farming another character like that up and spending another 2-3 years made me want to beat the devs within an inch of their lives not give them more money. However seeing this new ftp model and all the new stuff plus a return to t1 frigate to cruiser fighting makes me willing to create another account. Its been so long since I have played I figured I would brush up on stuff and see whats new. Your videos have been a wonderful refresh and I wanted to thank you for your work. Trying to decide if I want to stay alpha or go omega or not. I'm still kinda salty about losing my account to a fuckup on their side. Regardless I wanted to thank you for what you have done, I don't know if the new players coming in understand just how detailed your work is. I also wanted to ask if you know of a guide or if you have one on keyboard shortcuts. I want to try to automate some of the mouseclick functions like pressing a keyboard button instead of clicking with a mouse but don't want to get banned for using advanced macros that might make me look like a bot. I use the F keys to activate modules and the like and would like to be able to overdrive them without having to shift click. Would rather shift +key.
    Also to further elaborate on your tactical perch I had someone teach me a way to set up some off the line perches. It requires more than one celestial body to pull off but you basically drop a waypoint on the warp path. Then go to another celestial and drop a waypoint. Now you can warp between waypoints and create a point in space that is not on any of the warp lines. Its hard to do in the beginning but as you fly around you can pilot some really fast recon and make these escape points so that when you bring your fighting ship into that space again you can warp off and they have to spend precious time trying to scan you down. If you create multiple custom waypoints you can bounce around and get away. Once your locs are burned though you have to do it again and create different waypoints or its no use.

      Also new players watch out for price traps. For example someone posts a frigate or cruiser for like 5k or something ridiculous but its designed to lure you into a bubble trap when you try to go get it. Check the sec location of where it is. When I first started playing the game I bought a rifter for 8k but it was in a 0.1 space. I didnt know until I got there and met my first gate camp. I was able to escape and make it to the dock and get it. I went to bed and got up at like 5 am and the camp was gone and I was able to get home with the ship.

    Very informative. Recently lost an Astero to a gate camp because I tried to get out of the bubble. Likely would have lived if I crashed the gate.
    Not mentioned is tactics for interdiction nullified T3 cruisers. Should still use the same tactics, but if you mess up once you ignore that one bubble.

    one of the reasons I love my Astero in wh. lo and nul space is that if you jump through a wh, (same as gates) you can almost always scan and turn around if you spot anyone on gate. The amount of times i've gone through K162 wh and ended up in lo or nul to find camp sat there is incredible, Astero you will just about always escape but anything bigger takes you through further making it difficult. As i found out in my first Stratios :(

    Great video, thanks. I'm new to EVE and came looking for an answer to this after getting insta-killed in a gate camp. Is crashing the gate still better than trying to warp to a safe, assuming one has been made ahead of time? I've been starting to build up a collection of safes in systems I pass through (or would like to pass through) regularly, placing them so they are not in line with any two gates and where possible, approach gates at an acute angle. Would this strategy work, or would a perch on each gate still be better, so in the case of a camp, warp up to nearest perch, then across to exit perch, down to gate?

    I agree on the fact that reaproaching the gate is the best thing to survive a gate camp... but what to do after you jump back?
    Like.. I logged in into EVE, made a plan to go somewhere and do something.. then I run on a gatecamp.. jump back to escape.. and what to do then ? Give up on my plan for the day ? Go to other stuff in EVE, or log to another charracter... or just log off from EVE and log on later ?
    Not trying to be a smartass here, sorry if it sound like this.. But just want to hear your view about this situations.. How do you see this and what do you actualy do ?
    Thanx bro.. great channel and keep up the good work!

    Hi, great vid thanks, very informative. I don't have good thermodynamics yet. But my ship has a cloak (astero), if I find myself in the same situation at a gatecamp, is it best to still reapproach? Or can I alighn to something, quickly recloak and insta-warp? Thanks

    • @Eveproguides
      @Eveproguides  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Even cloaked you are much safer reapproaching. Hit Approach, Cloak, MWD and then double check that cloak and mwd activated.

      As an alternative: If you're in a fast ship and you're confident in your ship control, you can activate your MWD and cloak at the same time, burn away from the gate and then fly in a curve to prevent the badguys from de-cloaking you. Works almost 100% in a covops, great when you're not keen on finding an alternate route to your destination.

    1 week in to playing eve and i have already managed to do all the bad things you warned about and survived a gate camp.
    Did they change jump gate and warp mechanics recently? (2020)
    I used direct jump to navigate to the gate i discovered was being camped and managed to get through first run with no incident.
    After buying the things i needed on the other side i warped back to the gate that was being camped on the other side and went through.
    After jumping back through that gate i immediately clicked jump for my next gate and took 3 hits to my shield before i jumped.
    There seems to be a huge difference with how quick you jump when you manually navigate to zero with the jump button, rather than jumping near the gate and then navigating to the gate for a jump like auto pilot does.

    Thanks for the tips on escaping gate camps, great advice! I have what is probably a newbie question: I think I've read that you can't warp to anything under 150km. So I was thinking that it might be safer to have a bookmark just less than that, say 120km. Otherwise the enemy could just click on your ship and warp right to you. Does that make sense? Thanks again.

    • @Eveproguides
      @Eveproguides  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No one can warp to your ship unless they are in fleet with you. So there is no way for an enemy to warp to you by click you, however it is possible if they have probes out, in which case being under 150km would help.

    I was recently flying from hi sec to null and made a few noob mistakes leading to being caught in an on-gate bubble by warping to 0. I crashed the gate, made it through with shields and most armor gone, but If I remember correctly, the other side was also bubbled. There were 2 ships there ready to blast me so I waited a little bit before trying to tank their damage and escape their range. Is it uncommon to have both sides bubbled? I understand that in the future I should use d scan, check local, warp at an angle or simply warp in further from the gate but I’m not sure what I could’ve done after the fact being that both sides were bubbled.

  • @southshoreadventures

    In your first example wouldn't it have been better to just warp out instead of gate crashing? Or would you be warp disrupted from leaving? My low sec explorer is fitted with 4 stabs. So in that situation I just warp out of there to a planet or other. In most cases I take little to no damage. If I charged the gate I would be dead because that many ships would kill my little Magnate in no time.

      Look up how to use the dscan. Also have the proper filters set, and you dscan is based on where your cam is looking

    If you make a bookmark at 300+ km from the gate, won't they be able to 0km warp on you if they are at the gate? Dunno just a noob.

    • @Eveproguides
      @Eveproguides  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, for them to warp to you you would have to be in their fleet or they would have to probe you with combat scanner probes.

    I have an alliance hunting me cuz they hate noobs I guess, but thanks to you, they have yet to kill me... but I have to admit, it's starting to feel like harassment since I can't do any exploring anymore... what are your feelings on corps/alliances that specifically target new players. isn't that gonna kill the game eventually if there are no new players cuz they all get driven off?

    This is not logical, why on earth would they make the bubble 100km BEHIND the gate? Nobody would ever warp through the bubble then...
