Here's our Indian New Year 2022 music video in collaboration with the talented Singapore Indian Orchestra & Choir (SIOC) featuring an ensemble of instruments including the veena, tabla, mridangam, dhol, violin, morsing and sitar on keyboard!🎶
The music video features various traditional Indian dance forms. It showcases the celebrations and the welcoming of the new year by some of the Indian sub-ethnic communities in Singapore.
This piece marries beautiful music and graceful dance forms to mark the occasion. It includes -
Bharathanatyam, Kathak, Kuchipudi, Mohiniyaattam and Odissi. Kolaattam was also included for the element of folk dance.
This music medley by Mdm Lalitha Vaidyanathan, Founder and Creative Director of the Singapore Indian Orchestra and Choir, comprises a selection of music compositions from SIOC. Mdm Lalitha was inspired to create this piece to signify how various Indian communities come together in unity to celebrate the new year. The instruments for this piece are violin, veena, tabla, mridangam, dhol, morsing, flute and sitar on the keyboard.
The dancers featured are current students and alumni from various dance academies in Singapore including Bhaskar's Arts Academy, SIFAS, Kalpavrikshaa School of Arts and Swarna Kala Mandir.
