Thank you Carmen for gently and joyfully speaking into real life with a beautiful, A-Z vision from the text for what God has always wanted...to dwell with His people and for His people to dwell together in love and unity.

Over 50 years ago, when I was very young, I remember my mom teaching my sister and I this story. This part-others leaving with the Israelites-really caught my imagination, and I recall boldly declaring, “I would go with them!“ Mom indulgently said “You just might have.” I’m blessed to still have my mother (now a great-great-grandmother), and we still discuss Scripture together. Thanks for this good teaching, the reminder of both its past and present context, and for the walk down amnesia lane 😉.

Love the inclusive aspect of the covenant! God has always made a way for anyone to participate and pledge allegiance to Him!
    Great word!

I’ve been enjoying this whole series, but this particular segment has left me in amazement and curiosity to go dig into the Word more. Thank you Miss Carmen for taking your time in going through this as well as making time to create and post this 🙏🏿🔥👏🏿

Another great TT! I'm glad you spoke on the inclusivity of foreigners into the covenantal community of ancient Israel. It's seen throughout the OT, but the Torah makes very explicit statements regarding it.

Hi Dr. Imes. I just discovered your channel because of your appearance on Disciple Dojo. I appreciate your work on Exodus.
When is your commentary scheduled to be available? I'd love to buy a copy.

Glad you're interested in my commentary! It's only 43% written. I'm hoping it will be out in 2026 or 2027. Too soon to tell exactly, but I work on it 3-4 days a week!

I know this isn't on topic currently, but I couldn't find the specific video in which you introduced the idea of "signs and wonders" rather than "plagues."
And I don't know if you mentioned this, but I've been reading through the Psalms lately. When those are recounted, plagues are not used. Signs and wonders are -- strengthening your thoughts for me.
Psa_78:43 the day he displayed his miraculous signs in Egypt,
his wonders in the region of Zoan.

Psa_105:27 They performed his miraculous signs among them,
his wonders in the land of Ham.

Psa_135:9 He sent his signs and wonders into your midst, O Egypt,
against Pharaoh and all his servants.

It's probably a video on the early verses of chapter 7. Let me check.

My dyslexic mind hears a High Context, subtext of Evangelism in these regulations of participation, and the future land grant inheritance in Ezekiel. Is this mistaken? Do you know of any scholary works on Evangelism in the Old Covenant? The more i think about it the "Soterian Gospel" really jades our views on Biblical Theology (just thinking out loud with that last point)

Chris, thanks for your comment! I'm not sure what you mean by "Soterian Gospel." I think the inclusion of foreigners in the covenant people is definitely a neglected aspect of Old Testament theology. I was working on Exodus 18 this morning -- another wonderful example of this!

"Soterion Gospel" is from Scott McKnight's King Jesus Gospel book

I don't think we need to arguing about the numbers. I was told in Hebrew, if there is just one man in a group of people, that group can be described as men. so number of men really means the total people of both men and women. I have been pondering it might be the same case when Jesus feed 5000 men, that actually means total number of men and women in that group 5000. There is no need to multiple 3 or 4 time of the recorded number to prove it is a miracle.

You're right about how the masculine plural works in Hebrew. But actually, the text explicitly says here 600 eleph of men, plus dependents (i.e. women and children). So in this case, "men" does not include women.

Sorry, just a question, if they had 22000 israelites, how come the levites alone were already 22000?

A very fair question! This is one of the conundrums of the numbers issue. The same issue pertains to that number, so it could be 22 groups (totaling 273 men or plus 273 other men?), rather than 22 thousand. I'm still chewing on all this and I hope that someone comes up with a very clear solution!

Great teaching (as always)! This episode is kinda like showing the future of all peoples (gentiles) that accept Christ, are "grafted" in.......

And all nations will be filled with the knowledge of God. This is what from the beginning was the will of the Creator, that you were born in a paradise with all the glorious power of YHVH as Adam and Eve lived. But because of the fall of our ancestors, we lost glory. Now regeneration is present, and perfect in the future. Let's enjoy the covenant that we have had to live. Those who lived in the previous covenant will be judged by Torah.
