From the awesome new Rock and Pop Syllabus, out now! www.trinityrock... Recorded to help students studying these pieces. Have fun and please let me know if any questions :)
Absolutely awesome! I’m doing My Sharona, Smells Like Teen Spirit and Ghost Town for my pieces. I just turned 13 and got a Stage Custom! Excellent video 😃👍
Hi Bill, thanks for watching! I use the "heel-up" technique, bouncing on the ball of the foot to play multiple strokes. I've got a video about bass drum sped here: th-cam.com/video/_R_oJgZQ1Ec/w-d-xo.html Cheers!
Thanks, from UK! :) As I say in the description, these videos are demo of pieces from the Trinity Rock and Pop Drum Graded syllabus Details at www.trinityrock.com The Grade 6 book is here: amzn.eu/d/cRtONjY But watch out! This particular song was in the first run of the book, but has been replaced by "Ghost Town" by the specials in later versions - which is a shame because it's a banger! The best thing to do if you really want this song score is to buy from your local music shop and ask to see if they can get hold of the version with "My Sharona" in for you! Cheers Silvano :)
Hey dude, awesome work, wasn't too sure in my head about rack and floor but I've stuck with it and since seeing you do the same 👏. I use Meinl too, lovely sounding Byzance ride,, nice to see and hear, beautiful sounding body on the ride (Bell looks massive)👀
It's in the Grade 6 Trinity Rock and Pop book BUT watch out - it only appeared in the early runs - was replaced with Ghost Town in later versions. You could also get the score for the original version (which is slightly different from this Grade 6 version): th-cam.com/video/oCR1V_un860/w-d-xo.html&pp=ygUWaG93IHRvIGZpbmQgZHJ1bSBtdXNpYw%3D%3D
Buil it up! Start v slow, work out where it falls along with the main rhythm and then work it up from there. Also at Grade 6 there’s be an assumption that you already have a degree of fluency with quarter notes on the hi-hat pedal - so if not, play some simpler hand rhythms with a quarter note left foot to develop some fluency with it, and work up to this part. Patience and consistency are the variables of success IMO!
Too bad they replaced this with a simpler Ghost Town, which is just a 2 and 4 snare witn a 16th note hi hat pattern and heartbeat bass drum with the occasional choke hat fill at the end of a phrase
Excellent cover man!!
That page turn was well handled 💪
Love that song
You smashed it mate

Thanks for watching, glad you dig!
That's an amazing cover. Almost like the Oatibix guys.
What technique did you use on the bass drum when it is matched with the ride bell as quavers?

Brilliant 😍
I had fun watching and learning at the same time
A tip: watch movies at kaldrostream. I've been using them for watching a lot of movies lately.
@Jeffrey Zakai Definitely, been watching on kaldrostream for since november myself :)
I have a question on this song. I can't step the hi-hat paddle while trying to play the main rhythm. Is there any ways of doing it?

Did they think this song wasn’t the right level? Is that why it went? Just would’ve loved to play this one.
You can still play it! Great free transcription of the original here: thedrumninja.com/downloads/my-sharona-the-knack-drum-transcription.pdf
Mike Barnes Drums oh wow nice cheers. Going to go play it now.

Too bad they replaced this with a simpler Ghost Town, which is just a 2 and 4 snare witn a 16th note hi hat pattern and heartbeat bass drum with the occasional choke hat fill at the end of a phrase
