Hi Mike I'm am a 10 year old drummer about to take my grade 6 trinity rock and pop exam and leading up to it all of these videos have kept me motivated and kept me working to get prepared for the exam. So THANK YOU for your work on TH-cam.
I love both versions to be honest! And although the Michael Jackson version has a killer groove, I guess this version has more details, fills etc so making it perhaps more suitable for this level. Cheers Zoe!
I love your videos, thank you very much for teaching us how to play drums. How difficult is this song? What would you say is the most difficult part (Is it the guitar solo, the 16th notes on the high hat)?
It’s grade 6 out of 8, so assuming you’re playing the full part accurately and cleanly, I’d say it’s moderately difficult. Based on working this tune with many students, I’d say the most difficult bit is the hi-hat details near the start. Cheers.

Do you have any tips for improving singles speed for the fill towards the middle of the song? I just finished my grade 6 exam last week but I haven’t learned this song. I’m trying to learn all the grade 6 songs before moving on to grade 7.
Het Mike! I would like to ask if you have any tips on how to flip the page when you're playing. I can't seem to find a solution. I always have to stop to flip to the next page.
What I try to do, in order of preference... 1) Memorise the piece, so we don't need to worry about looking at it or turning a page. 2) Photocopy the relevant pages to avoid having to turn the page! 3) If it's unavoidable, find an appropriate moment in the music to perform the page turn (it may not be exactly at the end of the page - it might be possible to perform the last bit of a page having already turned it). 4) It all of that isn't possible, just turn it and do your best! Like every other skill it gets smoother with repetition! Thanks for watching :)
Love it Mike. Thanks for all the vids mate👍👊 Quick question. Im doing my grade 6 next year so wondering if you are doing any short lesson like videos like you did for no one knows grade 5? Cheers, James
JamesKay72 Hi James, thanks for watching. Full lesson video for this song? Yes I’ve made one dude. Search for stuff! - th-cam.com/video/QfWE--p5Pac/w-d-xo.html
I am finding this song really difficult, I can't play it at the full tempo at all. My right foot is struggling to follow the bass drum pattern and I am not relaxed when I play it, this is supposed to be song 3 for my Grade 6 exam, I am beginning to think I will never get the hang of it.
Thanks for watching man, yes lots of physical skills need to come together for this one - kick drum technique, ghost notes, finger control is massively helpful for the hi-hat work too. It's a good challenge! Take your time and go slow to practice it man - slow is smooth and smooth is fast! Bass drum technique stuff is here: th-cam.com/play/PLcfoni8UPb9rfMKiVUYJVO6C7lBcKZNvb.html Finger control development: th-cam.com/video/ABQZshCWaQ4/w-d-xo.html Cheers man, keep working - you'll get there!
finlay childs Cheers man! Don’t have the score to hand but as far as I’m aware I’m playing this correctly in the chorus. Remember that some of the notes are ghosted so I’m playing them very softly. Thanks for watching!
Yeah man, good challenge for this level! Some solid skills needed here with kick drum and hand technique for the hi-hat part. You got this man but it’s all about building up the skills. Everytime a drum teacher plays a trinity or rockschool song, they will always modify and improvise certain parts lmao
I’m only improvising here where the chart tells us to! Thanks for watching 🙏🏻👊🏻
Awesome (≧▽≦)

You’re missing a snare in the chorus but still great 👍🏻
