    That is a great job done Dom. Very well explained and detailed. I can see some bubbling on the ends of the 3.2 sills so I am thinking its a job for this summer. I dont want them going too bad! I had not even thought about all that underseal on them. Maybe they can go off to an body shop to be stripped as well as painting! Saves me a job!

    Thanks for this Dom, I've had one side done and the other needs doing! Might well have a bash at this myself when we have some sustained dry weather! My drivers side had a whole rainforest growing in the sill cover, I probably broke enviromental laws cutting down the trees and rare flowers growing in the meadow😂...that moss on yours, I'd recommend sending some spores of that to the doomsday seed vault.🤣

    • @TheParrottBros
      @TheParrottBros  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      😂😂😂 Yes it is a good source of moss growing thats for sure, the thing with this job is its straightforward enough, just time consuming as you have the sit and clean out each bolt well before proceeding, then its fairly plain sailing

    Only just notices your workshop is round :) Also, the longest thing with this can be getting the wheel arch liners off as the screws just continually turn in the plastic fixings but won't come out, very frustrating. I purchased a pack of 10 replacement screws/fixings for £4 and poked a bit of waxoyl over the heads when i put everything back together so they don't rust too quickly. Great that you can replace sills on the TT with no welding... I wish they did this on mk5 Golfs!!!

    • @TheParrottBros
      @TheParrottBros  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thats a great tip about the waxoyl! like it, yeah its an old grain silo haha

      Best to buy new if the car is a keeper. Your recent video of the 400 hp Badger 5 car was excellent. Badger 5 are missing a trick, a film of the whole rebuild would be epic. Truly how the TT should be. Reloaded the CD player last night with Boney M and Diana Ross ready for summer!

    Hi Dom, excellent production even without proper camera! My sills need doing as well! If I take the outer sills off to save money at body shop can i still drive car? To and from or until works done??

    • @TheParrottBros
      @TheParrottBros  ปีที่แล้ว

      You can do, if its salty on the roads i would probably avoid doing so as its gonna let that get into places you wont want it, not sure how legal it is without them, shouldnt be an issue.

    Nice! I will receive mine side skirts from sanding and painting soon. Do you recommend using new bolts for reassembly?

    • @TheParrottBros
      @TheParrottBros  ปีที่แล้ว

      You should be fine to clean and re use the existing bolts, where they have been sealed they are usually nice and clean / intact

    Nice video Dom and good timing for me, does anybody know if you can buy new or pattern ones as mine are rotten?

    • @TheParrottBros
      @TheParrottBros  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Glad to hear it, you can buy new ones from TPS still, they are around £179 last time i checked, or buy some decent condition used ones but they will need some prep unless you get lucky and can get a paint match

    Hi Dom
    You happen to know where i could get replacement sills from ?
    I have retreated mine last year but they are going bad again time to replace i think .
    Cheers Calum

    • @TheParrottBros
      @TheParrottBros  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Calum,
      Yes they can be purchased from TPS or Coverdale car parts, for new ones, or secondhand jump on eBay/speak to me and I can forward you some details of Breaker who may have some

  • @andrewbulloch6218
    @andrewbulloch6218 ปีที่แล้ว

    I got hit by a mk2 TT and it’s dented mine. After watching this I think it’s probably better to change it rather than have it fixed at the body shop. What do you think Dom?

    • @TheParrottBros
      @TheParrottBros  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s probably cheaper to have it replaced and painted than it would be to have it repaired as no doubt it has some light rust that would need prepping too. Plus the time it takes to make repairs will likely cost more than buying a new one

    is it common for Audi TT MK1 to get stiff break when doing sudden hard break at highspeed?

    • @TheParrottBros

      Can you re word what you mean as I don’t fully understand. Thanks dom

    • @JoshuaKabatay
      @JoshuaKabatay ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheParrottBros I'm driving fast on motorway when suddenly the car in front of me suddenly break, I need to break aswell but the break pedal suddenly become very to push it feels like pressing the break while the engine is off, it still works tho but it kinda scary not to use your brake in instant.

    • @TheParrottBros
      @TheParrottBros  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@JoshuaKabatay now I understand what you mean, yes it’s quite common. You have a split vacuum pipe somewhere between the inlet manifold and the brake booster. It’s a hard plastic pipe and over time gets brittle and splits. Usually fails near or behind the heat shielding Behind the charge pipe

    Any idea where to find new sills as mine are rusted

    • @TheParrottBros
      @TheParrottBros  ปีที่แล้ว

      Genuine ones are still available. If you speak to Coverdale car parts they can supply. Failing that get on eBay and you’ll get a decent used set. Just be sure to get lots of pictures first
