    I bought a 2001 225 roadster last week which is tidy but needs a few jobs doing. Whenever I have a problem I go on TH-cam and there is a video from the Parrott Bro's to help me. Thanks for making my life much easier! Right, where do I find some secondhand sill covers...

    That is a great job done Dom. Very well explained and detailed. I can see some bubbling on the ends of the 3.2 sills so I am thinking its a job for this summer. I dont want them going too bad! I had not even thought about all that underseal on them. Maybe they can go off to an body shop to be stripped as well as painting! Saves me a job!

    Only just notices your workshop is round :) Also, the longest thing with this can be getting the wheel arch liners off as the screws just continually turn in the plastic fixings but won't come out, very frustrating. I purchased a pack of 10 replacement screws/fixings for £4 and poked a bit of waxoyl over the heads when i put everything back together so they don't rust too quickly. Great that you can replace sills on the TT with no welding... I wish they did this on mk5 Golfs!!!

    Thanks for this Dom, I've had one side done and the other needs doing! Might well have a bash at this myself when we have some sustained dry weather! My drivers side had a whole rainforest growing in the sill cover, I probably broke enviromental laws cutting down the trees and rare flowers growing in the meadow😂...that moss on yours, I'd recommend sending some spores of that to the doomsday seed vault.🤣

    • @TheParrottBros
      @TheParrottBros  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      😂😂😂 Yes it is a good source of moss growing thats for sure, the thing with this job is its straightforward enough, just time consuming as you have the sit and clean out each bolt well before proceeding, then its fairly plain sailing

    Thanks so much for the video! Very helpful!! I didn’t know what a sill was until my 2003 tt failed its NCT (Irish MOT) for rusty sills. If I buy replacement sills second hand, do you think this will fix my problem or should I be worried about underlying rust in the car frame? When the tester punched the side panel, it went right through. Apparently this was bad…

    • @TheParrottBros
      @TheParrottBros  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The sills on a mk1 TT are not structural they are just metal covers, Im sure the actual structual sill underneath will be fine. Yes good condition second hand ones will be perfectly fine mate

    • @TheParrottBros

      You can do, if its salty on the roads i would probably avoid doing so as its gonna let that get into places you wont want it, not sure how legal it is without them, shouldnt be an issue.

      Hey Calum,

  • @andrewbulloch6218
    @andrewbulloch6218 ปีที่แล้ว

    I got hit by a mk2 TT and it’s dented mine. After watching this I think it’s probably better to change it rather than have it fixed at the body shop. What do you think Dom?

    • @TheParrottBros
      @TheParrottBros  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s probably cheaper to have it replaced and painted than it would be to have it repaired as no doubt it has some light rust that would need prepping too. Plus the time it takes to make repairs will likely cost more than buying a new one

      @TheParrottBros  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Glad to hear it, you can buy new ones from TPS still, they are around £179 last time i checked, or buy some decent condition used ones but they will need some prep unless you get lucky and can get a paint match

    Hi Dom, this is a really helpful video - thank you. I shall be replacing my side sill this weekend but I just wondered what to use to stick it back to the underbody i.e the part you cut along with your knife at the end?
    Also, my ends are not that bad so would a simple clean and hammerite in black be sufficient?
    Thank you.

    • @TheParrottBros
      @TheParrottBros  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@KarlFrost-y1v I would recommend using a sikaflex or tigerseal. Both polyurethane flexible sealants.
      Hammerite should be sufficient providing you’ve got a good clean surface with no loose rust or bits on yes

    • @TheParrottBros
      @TheParrottBros  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@KarlFrost-y1v it’s worth checking for leaks as air leaks will cause issues.
      O2 sensor is common for issues also, if you have access you can usually see what readings it’s getting and then see if that’s within normal range. If not may need replacing
