I kinda wish James would sing it with the softness he did in "Nothing Else Matters." Of course, not to take away from this performance, which is a phenomenal one.
Wow... I'm an addicted to Metal Music for about three or four years. I listen more of 300 Metal Bands.... But i come back always to Metallica and Opeth...
the best version of fade to black, in my opinion, i just would have liked it more if the vocal was the same as in the recorded cd version. but the way it is is awesome, one of the best songs ive ever heard
Hey man, Hawkallica, I love your user name being a Hawkwind fan since I 1st heard In Search Of Space tripping in 72 & I do love Metallica so & this is the best version of this song by far better than the studio version imo Thx
Does any have an idea how is kirk hitting the high notes in the solo? Maybe the fact he has a cut-out guitar? Or something with the tuning? Sorry for sounding naive. Beginner guitarist here. I have a non-cutout acoustic and it's really hard to hit anything beyond 15th fret.
One of the best version of Fade To Black, still nice in 2019, and I can’t stop appreciate the song
still nice in 2022
Where did they play it?

@@ayooshkathuria4594 The solo is very energic, that's the point.

This songs works real well as a really sad outlaw country and western style song. Love it.

Sometimes I think that James could have been a successful comedian, he's got a cool voice and can be funny without trying.

I felt the same way. I think Godsmack's Other Side album came close, but even with Layne in the condition he was in, that whole concert was great.

He actually used an electric guitar, which has 21 frets, but with no distortion/pedals etc, so it sounds like an acoustic.
