    Nice big white knee!. Had one at the pet store for 4 months and i finally bought it cause i now know you can hold them. I wasn't interested in a aggressive species. Nice handling! 👍👍

      not all of them can be handled, it's just every now and then some are more docile than others, if you can handle your T then your lucky, i can handle mine fine, but i know a few that can't go near theirs, they are an aggressive species but still some can be docile :)

      Is it true that the Mexican Red Knee tarantula is the most placid? Usually this species is the one that is handled at zoos and even given to children to hold.

  • @DarkDraega
    @DarkDraega 9 ปีที่แล้ว +23

    Wow, absolutely stunning specimen! I almost thought she was going to bite you because at 21 seconds in I could clearly see some fang but then I noticed something was off with that fang...then I read the comments and discovered it was a broken fang. Does she have any trouble eating with only one good fang? I am assuming not because she is of a very good weight and active!
    I was considering getting one of these lovely Acanthoscurria Geniculata to my small collection but...I'm kind of worried about getting an agressive one.
    In my small collection of Tarantulas I presently have:
    Avicularia Avicularia, Lasiodora Klugi, 2 Brachypelma Vagans (one male, one female), Brachypelma albopilosum
    In the next two days I'm getting the following slings for my collection: Brachypelma smithi, Grammostola Rosea, Brachypelma Albiceps, and Cyriocosmus elegans...
    I was considering getting an A.genic for my little family of T's when I get the other slings I just listed above but...I've been lucky and don't have any aggressive T's though I DO tend to choose more docile T's...as you'll see my collection is pretty good for the more docile ones. How bad is their urticating hairs in compirison to the T's of my collection? Way worse? Average? Is there any tips you might have for me with this type of T? Or one you would recommend more that is a large beauty, yet docile in nature that I don't already have? Due to my sister has kids and the fact we have dogs too( I live with her) (she has her own T's also but doesn't have this type or the same T's as me) we don't keep any well known aggressive T's or one's with the type of venom that can give you intense flu-like symptoms for days...so yeah...we stick to the more friendly stuff in-case one ever got out and a oh-too-curious-pet or child decided to try and play with the T....x.x (Though we have pretty sturdy escape proof-cages, but accidents can happen I suppose...) Annnnnd I'm rambling! Sorry I just love T's so much...But yes, please let me know your thoughts on this T, would you recommend it?
    Thanks so much for your time (and reading my mini-novel, hehe sorry!)

      my first tarantula was an A. geniculata, they are usualy calm and docile when they are little, but now, mine is about 3 inches and is now a pretty aggressive eater, but still not aggressive TOWARDS me. if my tarantula thinks something is food, it will get aggressive tho. i have 5 tarantulas.

      Chances are... it tolerates being handled like that. No Tarantula adores being held. Sone are just mutual to it. If you do, you do. If you don’t, you don’t. They’re not really fussed. As the other comment quite rightly said, newer breeds are better adapted!

    Between my husband and I we have 5 tarantula, and out of them there is one I feel comfortable picking up. He is a Chaco Golden Knee and he is extremely sweet. He has never shown any aggression. I wanna know if there are any tips on how to handle tarantulas this way? When it comes to bull (my golden knee) I put one hand down in front of him and the other using my finger touching his butt and when he ignores my hand I take that as a sign he doesn't wanna be handled.
    My husband does this but just makes me worried. I don't want my Golden or any other spider to feel trapped or like they are going to die accidentally holding to tightly) Don't really wanna get bitten but I also don't want him to feel trapped. So any tips would be appreciated, if of course it's something that can be explained

    Have you ever noticed that Ts often settle onto your hand or arm or knee and seem to be in no hurry to get away? My girls will sit indefinitely on a knee if I get them out. They certainly don't seem anxious to escape.

Mine is very shy, and I have never handled any of my 11 T's. I don't really have much desire to. Well, good video! P.S. I just watched this again more closely, and noticed, the poor thing has only ONE fang! What happened? Can she still eat? Do yo hand/syringe feed her? How long has it been like this, and is it a result of a "bad molt"?

      You sure are right. But on the other hands it can come in handy to know how to handle your Ts if there is an actual need to like taking care of a wound the spider cant handle itself. :)
