BA 747 G-CIVD. The final departure from Heathrow for breakup. 18 August 2020.

BA announced in July that all of its fleet of 31 747s would be retired with immediate effect. Today, Tuesday 18th August 2020 is the day when the first of the 9 remaining 747s still based at London Heathrow, G-CIVD; departed for the final time, heading for Castellon in Spain where the aircraft will be broken up.
Here is film of the final taxi, takeoff and climbaway of G-CIVD, from Heathrow. Sadly the road noise obscured the Comms from the Tower but as the 747 disappeared into the clouds, the Tower passed on their sadness at this day; which was echoed by the Flight crew on the 747 who said they were handing off with a "heavy heart". A sad day indeed.
