EDIT: I found the rules ! It’s in the Leviathan Rules for Chapter Approved battles used in tournaments. My bad for being a newbie… ----------- Two questions considering your last remarks: how do you put the Calidus in reserve Turn 1 ? (Did you mean keeping her in reserve during Deployment ?) Secondly, why did she need to be deployed by Turn 3 ? I see nothing in the rules. The only obligation I see for Reserve units is to be deployed before the end of the Battle.
Thanks for you videos. I am a new 40k player and picked Custodes because I liked the sound of their lore. Your videos really help me out. Hopefuly this next data slate will show us some love. I keep getting beat as we play mostly 1k games and we are just not very good at that low point count... at least that I can figure out just yet. I fyou have a good 1k list that you recommend for a newer player, I would greatly appreciate it!
Just wanted to add that the WCW event FAQ (whilst not official) states that units that that are placed into strategic reserves which started the turn on the battlefield, can come back down in turn 1 if they have deepstrike regardless of other wording. The Callidus Assassin has the 'will arrive back on the battlefield in your next reinforcement step' wording, but units/models that do not have this wording can still come down in turn 1 if they have deepstrike.
Bit late to the party but just wanted to point out that the Culexus can Deep Strike. I've had some success with getting around chaff by dropping it outside 12" in the back line and sniping psychic leaders. Putting him outside 12" means I can't charge but my opponent needs to move something backwards to actually attack him. Great as a double up with Deep Striking something else like Allarus or Venetari
I used the culexus against GKs and and just spammed his range weapon against interceptors and strike squads. And managed to kill 8 models through out the game and Pts for Pts he made up for it plus he's get a 2+FNP against them as well.
@@Rejnols yeah I agree. I hope he gets some kind of rework. His ability for forcing a BS test within 6" and minus 1-2LD is kinda tilting... Like have a once per game ability choose a unit within 12" roll a D6 on a 2-5 deal 3MWs on a 6 deal 6MWs. If that unit is a psyker add 2 to the roll and ignore rules that prevent models from losing wounds. (FNPs and -1D) might be to op but like something good. Lol
Assassins are perfect for leagues. Where people are allowed to change lists for each opponent. So any imperial army has 5he advantage to bring greyfax or the culuxes assassin when they see they are coming up against tyranids, daemons, thousand sons, grey knights. When you opponent isn't one of those you can put then back in the box and get out another assassin/inquisitor
As I really only play against space marines my friends really hate my callidus assassin to be fair most of the time I roll really high they swear I have weighted dice
Maybe I missed something, but it seems to me you are conflating Reserve and Strategic Reserve. Strategic Reserve is a special type of Reserve, and more restricted since any unit can be placed in SR. But there’s no such restriction for Reserve, like Deep Strike, which follows their specific rules. And the Rules Commentary clarifies that units arriving from Reserve can choose to follow either Strategic Reserve or Deep Strike rules (if they have this ability). So yes, Calidus and Allarus, as well as Deep Strike, can do their shenanigans Turn 1.
@@xen3534 core rules are that, core rules. Matched play (which means any game that played at tournament and any games you would wanna consider competitive) follow whatever the current matched format rules are. Currently those are leviathan.
Are there any rules of thumb on how many points is 5VP worth sacrificing for? I understand that if you cleanse with the 2 squads of sisters and get your full 5VP, they'll most likely die during the opponent's turn. Would you say that 5VP is worth approximately 2 squads of sisters?
No it's never that quite simple and there is no rule of thumb. You gotta be able to read the state of the game and how your potentiel sacrifice of that unit will impact you and your opponent on the following turns. In short it's about experience and game knowledge
I almost exclusivley play against my bro's Thousand Sons with my Soroitas. One model paid for itself many times over by taking down Arhiman and a Demon Prince to its last wound.
That is what's called list tech which is fine if you are just playing friendly games but very looked down upon in general. Obviously if the meta was full of TS and Grey Knights it would make sense, but it would have to reach some stupidly high play percentages.
@@Rejnols Yeah, only friendly games, me and my bother/friend group almost always tailor out lists to suit the others, not something we would do in tournament/competitive play at all.
I miss the days of 8th when i hard ran triple vindicares in every custodes list. Beautiful times.
Great vid! Very instructive, thank you for elaborating on your thought process in the TTS. Would love to see more tactics vid like this!

I found the deployment & movement tips especially useful, would be great to have some more content on that!
To go along with his tricks, the eversore also has the grenades keyword😊
Fair point!

Yup he can do a tiny little bit against 1-2 factions

I never said Allarus and Callidus cannot. However regular deep strike cannot, look at matched play leviathan rules

Vindicares pistol
So if you roll 3 6s to hit
3 6s to wound
Wouldn't that be 18 damage with devo wounds?
So he could 1 shot a tank or a dread naught ?
Culexus is a mosquito. Also all GK weapon are psychic. Melee, shoting etc he turns in to super tank vs GK.
Nah he just kinda dies to stormbolters which are not psychic

Can I use him in my custode army?
Yes you can include 2 agents of the imperium models in a 2000 point army.
First?
