Total underrated masterpiece. This track keeps haunting me in 2023. This mix of despair & hope is quite hearttouching. And what to say about melody and Borland’s voice… Relative unsuccess of the sound is still a mystery for me. Hope you’ve found peace above Adrian.
The Sound were a remarkable and really underrated band. Wonderfully put together tunes, haunting lyrics and music that tugged at the soul. I saw that one bloggist saw the Sound opening for Midnight Oil. I'm surprised it wasn't MNO opening for the Sound.
Although they never got the credit for it - Borland and The Sound truly crystallised the post-punk genre. I find something new in the music and lyrics every time I revisit them :)
In my opinion they are THE post punk band. Nobody even really comes close for me. Nobody to match the intensity and emotional honesty of a frontman like Adrian. Nobody to match the raw beauty and talent as a musician and songwriter. The Sound simply had it all!
Saw The Sound open for Midnight Oil at the Hammersmith Palais July 8th 1985 when on a trip from the US...Feel blessed to see both bands at their peak...Man The Sound/Adrian were as good as any other band from the 80's IMO..thanks for up loading these so i done have to flip my LP's over half way..Cheers
Only song that I heard from the sound and it’s amazing. Tried listening to their other songs but couldn’t get into them not like this song…. Must be the relatability factor to the lyrics and the way that this song is composed is just brilliant. But I don’t see myself feeling the same for the rest oh well I guess that’s good enough for me
I must confess, I thought they were getting a little lethargic after the masterpieces of From The Lions Mouth and Jeopardy, however this track was clearly a return to the lyrical gems from those earlier times. How this crew never made it will remain ever as one of lifes greatest mysteries.
@@tomo366 yeah that dude had a lot of solid 80s postpunk/new wave tracks on his channel, he also had the most viewed video of New Order's Temptation's 12 inch version before it got taken down, i reckon around 5m views
I started listening to this band last year, cant believe they didnt get the recognition they deserve. These guys sounded amazing. Rip adrian borland. Life gets tough but dont ever let it destroy you. Embrace the journey & make a big impact. Help & love others.
