I like the idea of rounding the needle slot. Could you show or describe the process for doing that? Thanks in advance! I have a straight stitch 'Rex' semi industrial machine and have ordered one of these for really heavy stuff and things that won't fit in the Rex. Once into heavy sewing it is surprising how many things one discovers that won't fit in a regular machine. They would on a free arm machine but those would fail fast stitching heavy leather. Since I have lots of industrial needles I'd like to better understand how you made those fit. Cheers!
It's a very helpful upgrade! I'm trying to remember exactly what I did, but there's a couple ways you can do it. A tiny file with a round profile that fits in the channel could work, or a ver small Drexel attachment which is what I think I used. The thing to remember with this machine is that the timing is very important, very fiddly, and very manually-adjusted, meaning there's no helpful marks or indicators to assist you. Industrial needles are a bit longer than home needles so you'll need to raise the needle bar a bit to use them. I'll try to include this process in a video at some point!
¡Hola!
I like the magnets idea and changing the bobbin winder location. Thanks.
Some good tips. I just made a removable table for mine. Video posted.

like the skate wheel I threaded an old broken screwdriver. Yours much better
Can you just wind bobbins on your home sewing machine?
If they fit on the spindle for your home sewing machine it might work. The patcher bobbins are pretty small but try it out!
