@@simiramisjesus8970 Basically it's an issue with the terrain there, where you can jump into it and get the angle properties of the slope, but be inside of it.. So Knuckles gains horizontal movement without any directional input, the horizontal movement activates the zip to do the level wrap, all without ever pressing anything but down and the jump button for the spindashes + the jump into the slope.
For the glitched run as anyone but knuckles at least one reset is required because you can get to the knuckles boss launch base 1 multiple different ways (getting hit by the bird in the elevator, clipping through spikes on the floor after getting hit by a bird, slope glitch off some item monitors, etc all followed by going through the floor to the knuckles boss) and for knuckles there are actually 2 bosses act 1 so if you hit one five times and the other 6 act 1 ends when the first boss dies leaving 1 hit on the second boss. Typically this is timed at 1 minute flat so you don’t get hit by the second boss when you can’t move and you die. Hit the second boss that 1 time and act 2 ends but it winds up with a soft lock so since it’s going to soft lock anyway a lot of people do that “peacock” and you’ll be stuck there until you time out. If you do time out you’ll have to play launch base 2 normally but if you reset after the countdown the game says you beat act 2 and you go to mushroom hill. For knuckles this doesn’t work and you will have to play act 2 either way but the slope glitch or other strat to get to act 1 boss early still faster. You can’t reset after beating act 2 boss in marble garden act 1 though because the game will send you to carnival night after 3 seconds of act 2 without a reset but with a reset you’re back in marble garden since you only beat 1 boss. I don’t know how this works after ice cap doing the fastest route (skipping both bosses) but I’m sure it’s another case where you can’t reset until the peacock or the defeat of big arms. This run also forgoes a lot of the fastest strats because left or right is required to perform them. Could glitch to the end of Angel island with knuckles through the floor skipping about 22 second saving maybe 15. Can glitch to the end of hydro 1 clipping into wall/floor with a precise fall / glide. Ice cap skip both bosses. Etc. These require pushing left or right but are a lot faster.
9:11 can anyone explain how he changed the direction he was facing without using left or right? i dont think he cheated the challenge or something corny like that, i assume its some glitch. actually i notice him do this a few times in Marble act 2, but hes always by a wall. i assume its some collision bug?
there's a quirk where if you glide right before hitting the ground while you are up against a wall on your left and facing left, the game will automatically turn you around to face to the right, it's faster than grabbing the wall and jumping off to turn around
If you break the box on a certain frame (I think it's the frame before the music starts, or the frame it is supposed to start), it'll override the request to play the music.
@@wolfpackflt670 Even just sitting by the sirens in Launch Base and farming the birds, it would take ages to max out the score counter. Plus any score-based run would disallow soft resetting, like was done to skip the transition from Mushroom Hill to Flying Battery.
Technically the Tracks written by Jun (which was remade in origins) is the original You should check the version in the Nov 3 1993 prototype. They sound A LOT better than what was used in origins

You might wanna be more specific. But essentially, a program is used that allows you to control a game like a film, you can go frame by frame and put in controller inputs. This allows for extremely precise gameplay, and in some games allows the manipulation of game code. congrats miss gamerchamp on likely being the first challenge runner to inspire a whole tool assisted speedrun
heh, mission half complete
if the saves can be made consistent RTA then mission fully complete

The best registered TAS of S3&K. Very entertaining. No zip gitch abuse. No Supersonic Music. Gimmicks of levels used. Happy to watch it.
But sandopolis act 1...
@@pythagore243Well it's the only instance on zipping in the entire run. That's no abuse

There's a sandopolis zone in this game? I thought it was only in Sonic & Knuckles

Of all the games to include a reset/cutscene skip, I never would've imagined this being one.
Reset/cutscene skip isn't uncommon on S&K3 any %
If only you could skip the points counting down.
