    Both are a win. So many dark scenes in today's shows and movies. But people always remember the bright highlights. Dolby vision on my iPad Pro and even on my 55 inch TCL always blows me away. So I'd have to go with the Sony.

      The reason Formovie didn't enter the competition is because they are actually going to count brightness as a Parameter. The other shootout was setup by the only distributor of Formovie in the country and if he actually had the Judges count brightness, hence LASER TV, he couldn't go around claiming his projector won the showdown.

      Yes! As does lens shift. The larger lens JVC is the best though, so image quality will be less affected with the 100mm JVC lens. The Sony ARC-F lens is their best lens, but not as good as the JVC’s 100mm lens.

    FYI: Just called a local audio / video specialty dealer who told me that a recent Sony WX 6000es projector, while it functions well, is quite noisy. So noisy, the dealer will need to build a custom baffle box for it. The owner is quite disappointed but will keep the projector. In Canada, now that Sony has done away with its “regional reps”, there is virtually no service from Sony whatsoever even for the purchasers who now have to call Sony themselves!
    The exact opposite is the current case in Canada for JVC who respond immediately to any issues regarding their projectors.

    • @robertpiil4032

      We have the opposite in Australia. JVC services are very poor. However still going to take a chance and have ordered the nz8. Love ❤️ those JVC blacks. Soo wish the blacks were as good as the previous eshift models. 😞

      @@robertpiil4032 All the best with your JVC purchase. A bit too big for my bookshelf application, but I will visit our local dealer in January and properly scope things out. If Sony would just issue a firmware update, all would be good. An X5000 is $7500 ($6000USD) right now which would easily meet my needs. Oh well, I am resigned to see what Sony announces at 2023 CES in Las VEGAS in early January, if anything. Thanks for the note! All the best. I think you will be quite pleased given everything I have seen on-line in realtime from two major shootouts in the U.S, that were narrowcast. Seems JVC with its 2.0 firmware update really dialled-in its tone-mapping algorithm quite nicely!

  • @marvinabugov4579
    @marvinabugov4579 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@therealshanelee Great! (Hopefully, an answer to my base-black firmware question too.) As for Sony colour gradation, I see that issue too on my 2018 / 285es. Really surprised that Sony would still have this issue on their top-tier projector? REALLY? Sony provides a better use case for my media room application, but if Sony is to continue to be so arrogant - I will find a solution to make a JVC projector - work instead, if I am forced to - which seems to be where this is leading me.
      FYI for reference: Stop The FOMO’s coverage at MWAVE as per his shootout commentary on that day.

    Shane and ROBERT: I have been eagerly awaiting this shootout and hope to be able to attend in real time. If I have a question (if per chance I can’t attend in real time) it would be this, which I have made Phil Jones aware of, assuming he saw my comment in Projector Reviews on the same topic: “As a result of the MWAVE shootout last spring, it was determined by a Sony projector team engineer , who was providing commentary during the shootout, that the Sony 5000, 6000, 7000 were in need of a Base-black tone-mapping firmware update. He said: Base-black is not something the end-user can repair through various settings. It has to be done with a firmware update.”
    So after the MWAVE shootout, did Sony Corp. acknowledge this deficiency and if they did, what is going to be done about it? Ready to buy, BUT I am sitting on my cash until I get a proper answer: Not going to buy an expensive Sony laser projector that has been declared “with deficient black-tone-mapping vs JVC” - right out of the box!!!!

    Whomever told you to turn Dynamic HDR Enhancer to High? You can go ahead and forever disregard their advice. The High setting introduces insane amounts of noise and imparts an artificiality to the image. Even middle can be rough with some content (but is ok with much content). The Low setting is a nice way to add a little punch without any subjective negative impact.
