I wish this video was there when I started my TH-cam journey... I was so mad because I had great content but wasn't getting any attention. 1000 subs was mission impossible. I was lucky when I found out I can level up my channel, and essentially beat the algorithm, just enough to start getting noticed. I got myself first couple hundred of subs (personally I used a bit of Famester), and after that my main channel gained a ton of organic traffic.
I have a take that people won't agree eith. And its that it doesn't matter how good your videos are. People watch videos based on who they prefer. Example, if the cool popular kid in school released a low quality video everyone will watch it. If the "lonely loser" kid releases the best video possible, no one will watch. That's just how it is. If your video has best title and thumbnail but its placed right beside a popular creator's video on the homepage, everyone will click on that creators video even if the vid, title and thumbnail are trash. People watch videos based on if they like the person making the video. If MrBeast released a video just staring at poop for 5 seconds, it will still get millions of clicks because "it's MrBeast" People watch videos based on who they like. I realized something about successful people and it's that they were always successful from the start, and it doesn't have to be with videos. A popular comedic TH-camr was always good at making jokes since 5 years old. This is my take, and the reality sucks. Also if you have no money and can't afford the tools to make quality videos, then you are severely disadvantaged compared to the TH-camrs who already start out with the right tools. It sucks.
@@OkSearvery true, that’s why nowadays everyone’s buying subs and views for a start off. It’s like if nobody sees you have at least a little popularity majority won’t click.
Another key factor in retention a lot nowadays is highly edited content. It's present even in this video, where the shots change multiple times per minute. I personally watch and make low edit style videos because I'm not a fan of short form content or feeding the adhd worms, and I see very little growth because of this. Most of my videos have an average of 20% watch time. I hope that over time as my subs slowly grow people will come to realise the quality behind the low editing of my videos.
