Superb video 😎👍🏽🎉 I had a feeling you’d catch this HST yesterday when I saw it was turned back at Bristol Temple Meads off the 1S51, which itself was cut short due to thunderstorms causing flooding between Cheltenham Spa and Worcestershire Parkway ⚡️☔️ XC’s good bit of contingency planning had it working the XC 16:45 path from Bristol TM to Penzance. Nice capture…great evening footage at Penzance too 😀👀👍🏽
@@BensPlanesTrainsProductions I think you will see the XC HST in Cornwall a few more times before they go 😎👍🏽 HST News from within GWR >>> GWR are retaining a few Castle sets beyond the withdrawal date of December 2023, so a few will still be running into 2024 😎👍🏽🎉🎉 From what I can gather, GWR will be retaining the Power Cars they Directly own and any leased Porterbrook or Angel Trains owned power cars will be returned to the leasing companies 🤔👍🏽

If for any reason the 1S51 12:27 Plymouth-Edinburgh gets terminated at Bristol TM without a train fault, e.g. flooding, fatality, major signal failure etc, then its natural fall back path to an overnight at Laira is to pick up the southbound path of the 10:03 Edinburgh-Penzance and then the final evening working back to Laira on the Penzance-Plymouth 🤔👀👍🏽 Always keep a daily eye on the 1S51 to see if it terminates short at Bristol or even Exeter and a working to Cornwall then becomes a real possibility 😀😎👍🏽🎉🎉

@ejc7129 yeah, I heard that GWR are retaining only a small number. I don't know which ones they own though. It won't be many sets though.
