I have one of these. It cuts nice angles, but it doesn’t cut vertically. There is no adjustment than I can see to change the “verticallness”, so I spend a lot of time at the belt sander truing things up.
I hope you have fixed your problem. You should be able to do vertical cuts without the need for a belt sander. I wonder if the blade is not secured tightly enough. I do agree though that I used a mitre trimmer to get that last perfect finish when I was sawing. I have see different people get different results off the same saw though. The steadiness of your body can impact the vertical cut.
