  • Here is a quick look at the Nobex 180 Mitre Saw. I am really surprised at how much I like this saw.
    You can find the one I bought at Lee Valley here: www.leevalley.com/en-ca/shop/...
    Or a different version on Amazon here: amzn.to/2EjqNVG

    About Simple Little Life:
    This channel has sort of turned (inadvertently) into a knife making channel. But the original idea behind what we wanted it to be is this description below:
    Videos on our journey to homesteading. With a recent purchase of a little piece of the Alberta prairie, we're looking to sell our nice suburban home in search of a more meaningful life beyond chasing the "American dream" working for some big company and making someone else rich. It's not about the money, it's about getting the most value from the work I do to improving the life of my family.
    Some preparedness, DIY, building quality things with your hands, guns, gear, and outdoor exploration.

    I've had a similar one for years, and it was handed down to me from my Father in Law who had also had it years. It's great and I use it regularly. A power mitre saw is too big for my wee workshop, and I cannot justify the cost or space for the amount I'd use it. It's a brilliant little tool.

    Pretty neat little setup, thanks for the overview.

    It might be helpful to fit a piece of sacrificial timber underneath to avoid break out on the cuts. Nice idea as an alternative to a powered saw for sure.

    I have the Proman 110 and the Champion,. The clamping system is a bit naff but its not a deal breaker. If you are planning to buy a nobex you need to be aware the 110 doesnt have the angle clamping feature of the champion so you cant lock the saw to odd angles, just the presets. I`ve used old 14tpi wood blades to cut through steel pipe, i dont recommend cutting steel pipe with a wood blade but it gives an idea of how good the blades are.

    Wow, I live in Sweden and never realized they were so expensive, almost threw mine away before I saw this video :)
    They are great for small work, but a bit inconvenient to store (and to keep track of all the kinder egg parts)

      @Intesanoga 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not all are so expensive though, you can by a cheap for 300 Swedish kronor in Sweden (approximately 35 $ American dollars).
      Of course the quality are not the same as the more expensive. But cant help on wonder if its a Europe och Nordic thing and the are imported overseas and that is why the are so expensive in US or Canada.

      I have one of these from Stanley, but the saw is honestly over 10 pounds! So I never use it.
      This one looks really nice and light, people doing baseboards or crown moldings I'm sure would love it.

    I have a similar much much cheaper plastic body miter saw like this. It says "Jorgensen" including the quotation marks. I think I bought it for about $15 or $20 20 to 25 years ago. The rotating part is some kind of metal casting. I never used it much. The fine teeth take too long to make wood cuts. Recently I bought a welder and was not having much luck cutting square tubing with a hack saw and angle grinder with any precision without a lot of grinding. I have mostly woodworking tools. I came across it in my garage like a lost treasure. It works perfect for cutting steel tubing. It seems a little flimsy, but produced good results.

    I just bought a craftsman 22" I hope it works as well as that one does, I have never heard of the brand you have there but it costs 4 times more than this one here. also the amazon reviews are not so good on that , I just checked. seems like the people are using it with more expectations. I was just getting sick of messing up every 6th or so cut, this trim get's expensive when you goof on it. Fingers crossed.
    I know those little emblems for making shapes are idiot signs but WOW! Pretty cool LOL..

    Is it possible to cut 10" at 45 degrees? I'll have to stand the molding up to make the 45 degrees cuts.

    Do you have any idea where I might find a blade for an obsolete, not antique, compound mitre box from Sears (Craftsman). Blade dimensions are, mounting holes 22 1/2" ctc, 23 5/8 oal, 1 3/4 wide and .028 thick. Any help would be appreciated. It looks similar to your Nobex except mine has the compound feature. Thank you.

    Too bad they're not available anymore! Someone needs to make these! I have a similar one (different brand) and after 20 years, it cuts crooked. :( That one has a taller fence.

    I bought mine from Lee Valley too. Like yourself, one of those clamps broke. I want one of those Japanese blades in a bad way but they are what seems to be eternally out of stock on those. Any idea where I can get one? Thanks.

    • @Simplelittlelife
      @Simplelittlelife  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah those clamps are pretty cheap. I noticed that too. Wish I could help you out. I ordered mine with the Japanese blades because I noticed they didn’t have that as a replacement in stock.

    Sounds like you need a better blade in your miter saw. There's no reason it shouldn't be accurate. Those troubles are usually down to blade quality. You need a quality blade from "Forrest" or similar type companies

    Guys, at its heart this a Picture Framing Saw! Read again: P i c t u r e... Framing! And for the purpose it was designed for this is an impressive and solid piece of kit and NOT light duty! Of course you can use for other purposes but the further hardcore you go with it the more likely you will wear it out or even break it - it has NOT been designed for building work regardless of its ability to chew through 4"x4"!

  • @danielbornhoeft7803
    @danielbornhoeft7803 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have one, but find the accuracy is not there. I am disappointed with it. I tried making miter boxes and find it deflects in both directions. Maybe I'm to burly and crank down on it or maybe I'm using it for what it is not intended for..
