Thank you so much. I just started learning Resolve a week ago and I was editing a video of my mother working on her recipe and I faced a few issues with transitions not applying to my clips. You saved the day and I can now create the edit that I want and make my mom happy!! Thanks mate. A sub from Australia 🇦🇺!
You're the first I've found that explained why cuts wouldn't accept transitions and most importantly, why. I just started all this youtube stuff and wanted to get some shorts up as fast as possible so I started a series of shorts showcasing free video & audio while I learn how to use Davinci. Your help is appreciated.
This is one of the best DaVinci Resolve videos I’ve watched on transitions, perfect explanations that make perfect sense. Thanks Jason, I was having issues with the application and the section on overlaps was extremely easy for a simpleton like me to understand! Have subscribed. 👍
I can't stress this enough: This video was SUPER helpful. Came up as the top 2 video results when I searched for how to add transitions in DaVinci Resolve 18. Will be coming back to your channel to learn more for sure.
Hey Jason! First to say I subscribed after the first Resolve Con, but I couldn't follow your style. Now for the last two days I'm watching the sht out of your videos and I find the pacing excellent!!! So this is like a milestone for me and shows my progress.. I really love your style and how much effort you are investing in these videos. The showdown of all the things we can do with Davinci in your own videos is excellent! That's pretty important and I appreciate the extra mile you go and invest time to really implement these though they might not be necessary, one would argue, in a tutorial like this. Really happy to have you here and can't wait to progress enough to dig into Fairlight. One other thing I am happy for is, with this new wave of Davinci teachers, it is a blessing to know you OG's who are in this program for years. Thank you and all the Resolve Con Avengers! Greeting from Croatia!
Hey Man! Thanks for subscribing! I know my style isn't for everyone, but glad my videos have become more helpful! I do my best to give all the best info I can and help as many people as I can. 😜
Number 1) Thank you for not using vulgar language. Number 2) Thank you for easy to follow demonstrations. Number 3) Thank you for the troubleshooting tips. AMAZING video. You ROCK!
Dude, what a banger! I've been playing around with this program but I picked up so many tricks from your video and I'm only halfway through. Wish I could like this twice!
"Hard enough as it is" an understatement. I've been an editor for decades, was on AVID for almost a decade, changing interface, licensing issues etc. I jumped to DaVinci. Sure Glad I did. Editing is NOT my problem, but finding everything under the hood-and the magic that awaits! You my friend are a blessing to all of us, newbie or not. Thank you for letting us look behind the curtain! GREAT video as always.
exactly I have worked with final cut pro for years and then I am totally baffled as to how to find timelines I saved now, its all about understanding this new program, If you have a minute I would appreciate some help finding my timelines I saved .. where did they go?
Hey Jason, thanks for another great video. I got a transition tip for you. You don't have to drag n drop the transition; if you place the Timeline Selector between the two clips, go over to the transition, & double click it. The Transition will automatically drop between the clips. I'm glad I watched your video because I learned a lot. Thank you & have a great day.
OMG! I can't thank you enough, finally a video explaining in clear detail how to fix the "I cant stick the transition to the middle of the clips" problem! I have been having this issue for, well long enough, and for the life of me I didn't understand why. last year I found a video that sped through the how to but he was not clear at all so I just gave up, sometime times I would get it by mistake! after fiddling with it. and here you go showing us how to do it and I had no idea the answer would be in here! Thank you SOOO much !!
I've problem in "detail resolve" transition only! whenever go there and only hover it, the message 'You have reached a limitation' appears! any solution plz❓❓
Thank you so much for all your great content and training on how to quickly use DaVinci Resolve! I'm launching a new channel on Wed with no background in video editing and you helped turn the most stressful part (video editing!!) into something I'm able to actually do without ripping my hair out. Really appreciate you!!!
THANK YOU!!! I've had davinci resolve sitting, unused on my computer because I couldn't find any good tutorials...now I can make my music videos! woohoo
I'm not used to comment on a videos, but this one was very helpful... I thought I knew how to add transition, how hard it can be right? but I didn't know why I can't just put it/drop it between clips... great explanation in 4:20 section, this helped me with my initial problem that brought me there... There should be some prompt from DaVinci letting the user know that the clips are not overlapping or that you just can't put the transition there at all, but instead it doesn't show anything/tell you what's wrong... pretty frustrating to this very day. Thank you again, helpful video!
OMG Dude this has been killing me for about a year now. Had no idea why my transitions would work in some areas but not the other. I was working on my TH-cam videos, trying to make some shorts and I could not figure out how to make it look good without the transition. So your video was super helpful and honestly gave me even more helpful stuff than I could have asked for.
Thank you! That cleared up some frustrations I've had using transitions. Now I know why I couldn't use or place them where I wanted. Super helpful video.
Nice video. As someone used to Vegas, the handling of overlaps in Resolve seems a bit cumbersome. In Vegas you just drag the clip over the previous one for the part which contains the transition. Super simple. This video helped me to understand the 'Resolve way'
Thanks! Yeah, there's a lot in Resolve that works a little different than other programs. You can do the same things, just a different way to get there.
This is nice but you missed one topic that is how to import transition pack. If you cover with another video then it would be good. sometime we need to go to the folder for external transitions
Overlap transition stopped me from putting a sawed-off elephant shotgun into the roof of my mouth and (gently) squeezing the trigger. You are a gentleman.

I think I came to the right spot - I'm trying out DaVinci Resolve 18, and it had me so frustrated, since I'm used to simply add transitions without that ominous mandatory clips overlapping! Also thank you for the tutorial, it is very good.
I’ve been making my on TH-cam videos on iMovie for a couple years now, but I’m hoping that I can bring the quality of my content to a new level using DaVinci resolve. My only concern is that since the iMovie app is so to use, that there will be a huge learning curve for me to learn to do the same quality videos with DaVinci resolve. Thanks for the video 🙏
You’re welcome! I did the same thing many years ago, went from iMovie to Davinci resolve. Learning curve was pretty steep, but once you get going to get the basics down, it’s not so bad. Now there’s a lot of great videos out there from a lotta awesome contact creators about da Vinci resolve. You should be able to get up to speed in no time. I got tons of videos with all the common problems you might run into when starting in Resolve, just search my channel for any issues you might have.

Yes, it is really a great video. Quick and lot of informations. But i had a problem when it came to the transition curve to add a new point, the symbol at the right corner "Lozange" between brackets is not appearing unfortunetaly, at any moment on my screen. Does someone knows why?
".... and if it doesn't work, here's why...." is the greatest contribution to stress reduction there is! Thanks.

There’s a lot of things and resolve that are not intuitive off the bat. Part of the reason why the learning curve for Resolve is steep.
I searched so many videos which was missing " and if it doesn't work, here's why...." I really appreciate this video!!

Yes, it is really a great video. Quick and lot of informations. But i had a problem when it came to the transition curve to add a new point, the symbol at the right corner "Lozange" between brackets is not appearing unfortunetaly, at any moment on my screen. Does someone knows why?
You do vids well, keep it up. My first time.
Thanks! Welcome to my channel! I appreciate you checking out my vids!
U can also use adjustment layer above two clips and drop a transition there.
