Moeran collected this folksong during I think, the early 1920's. This piece is perfect. If you know the broads in Norfolk as I do, being Norfolk bred, it is the perfect compliment to a winters day walk around Stalham and district. Some years ago I met the grandson of one William Sutton, whom Moeran collected folk songs from. Brief link with that age so long ago.
English/Irish pastoral music doesn't get any better than this. Neville Dilkes and the English Sinfonia (EMI) The perfect accompaniment to George Butterworth's short pieces. And those by Herbert Howells...
Beautiful - you can really hear the influence of Delius ;)
Another in the lyrical , folk- song tradition of the landscaped Brits...
You're right on both counts, Carol...considerably Delian, and very beautiful.
I wonder what music that leads to astringently withered spiritual enlightenment ! 🍒
From effulgent Tokyo in profound Japan
Which national are you watching this video ?
So relaxing. Very much in the spirit of Delius's Two Pieces For Small Orchestra
This is British Music and I adore it!
The modulation from 3:10 (the chord at 3:27) is so exquisite and sensuel...nice discovery, a great composer !
If you were new to Moeran when you posted your comment, I hope you’ve discovered his Symphony in G. He was composed only that one symphony, but it is fully packed. You’ll enjoy it tremendously.
An astonishing piece of music
This piece has a sense of place
schön melancholisch
Soothing, beautiful.
Just lovely.
These miniatures are intensely beautiful, melancholic, tuneful, pastoral, lush, as expected !! What a gorgeous chord at 5:58, just before the passage that highlights the flute!
sublime
I get my talent from him
Disney choosing music be like: "Yeah, thats the one"
What a piece of music 🎶
thank you!
What a great composer!
I'm related to this man
How?
wonderful. Thank you.
Jistá melodická podobnost se 3. symfonií Ralpha Vaughana Williamse. Silný melancholický nádech.
I believe that this is a portrait of the Norfolk landscape?
Trunch especially.
I speak of the Warlock piece...But the others are beautiful too.
❤ beautiful song
