One of the very few high level, kind hearted, willing to teach and explain bad ass Internal Martial Art Masters ever to grace this planet. What a treasure of knowledge and skill! And BTW-the best acupuncture Doctor I’ve ever met in Asia
Thanks for this video. I never understood the connection between martial arts and meditation in standing practice before. This is great inspiration to train harder.
Thank you Marcus for going into detail and bringing about clarity. I've been practicing various zhan Zhang and turning palms for years. I had no idea what was happening alchemically. I just know it feels good and generated more and more awareness of my structure and the interplay of tension and relaxtion.
I have done sitting and moving meditation, but this is a whole new level. Thanks Marcus! There may have been that 1 time in the Gym where we held stance for 5 min. or so. ;) I believe I was praying for you to call "Relax"
Thank you for unpacking this. Even though, Xingyi, is labelled simple, compared to Bagua, the subtleties, are hard to refine, and consistently adhere to. You gave me a mantra here. Thank you
As an aside, do you have plans to continue talking about five elements? Your videos have been very helpful to my understanding of pi, zuan, and beng. I would treasure any disclosures about pao or heng.
Good to hear from you! ... thanks for the reminder, I've been meaning to do a vid on Pao.. It and Heng are actually a bit more interesting because they use the 7star stepping.
@@marcusbrinkman3066 That's exciting news, I would love to hear more about these topics. The benefit that your videos and explanations here in the comments section have had to my xingyi practice is difficult to quantify.
Excellent video - would love to hear more about your views of Chinese Medicine and the practices. Do you incorporate acupuncture or herbalism into your personal practice or what you offer students?
Thank you! Yes I've practiced and studied Chinese medicine for many years, both acupuncture and herbal medicine. I do tend to incorporate Chinese medical principles when students have an interest. I think particularly acupuncturist and body work practitioners benefit from having a Chinese internal martial art background. Over the years, with varying degrees of success, I've been involved in a number of schools, projects etc.which have been focused on blending the two arts..
